Character Creation bug with AGility

I did a search and couldn't find any references to this but given the way the other stats work it seems to me it has to be considered a bug.

When you choose the 4 options for character creation (father, early life et al) these choices add points to your base attributes and all of those additions give the normal benefit EXCEPT Agility, which gives no benefit.

To illustrate, if you choose options that add points to your intelligence then when you get to the final screen you have extra skill points to allocate in addition to the 4 you would have if none of your options added to intelligence; likewise if your options increase your strength or charisma then you get those benefits as well; BUT if your choices add to your Agility then you DO NOT get the benefit of 5 specialization points per point of Agility like you should.

The result is to gimp all the character options that start with added agility.

Agility is needed to ride better mounts (what is really important in a game called MOUNT & blade), and agility let you do faster atacks, what helps a lot when you have 3 guys on you. Also agility let you increase shield points, so they are harder.

Basically, agility makes you a better fighter. Even stronger if you use shields

he understands all that, he's just pointing out a bug that you don't get the additional weapon proficiency points from additional agility points gained during character creation.

Just tested this in game and OP is obviously confused about which choices give agility.  My starting agility was 12 without totally trying.

Yes, but did you have extra weapon proficiencies to work with?

I am unclear what you are asking.  OP stated that during character creation you are asked 4 questions, about your father, your early life, your later life and why you started adventuring.  Certain answers add points to your character's abilities,e.g. if your dad was a thief, you add points to your own agility.  I created a new character to test his theory, but found that the proper answers gave the expected boost to your character's agility.

Is it really so hard to read people?

What the OP means is this: When you level up and invest a point in Agility, you get 5 extra Proficiency points to spend (weapon proficiencies remember?), however the Agility points that you can gain by choosing certain starting options do not give the extra Proficiency points.

Anyway, I don't think it's that big a deal. Proficiency points are sooo easily gained ingame, it just makes it a tad bit harder those first few battles.

I think what is confusing some people is that I talk about the benefit of Agility before I specify exactly what benefit I am referring to, as has been noted I am referring to the lack of Weapon Proficiency points that you should be getting with those extra Agility points; you get them for Agility that you add but not from Agility that is added as part of the background choices - it is important to note that you DO get extra skill points from Intelligence that is added as part of your background choices which is why I see it as a bug that you so not get the proficiency points from Agility as part of your background.

Strange that this has seemingly never come up before, though I agree in the long run the lost proficiency points not a big deal.

In any case, this seems to me (I haven't fired up the game to verify; but for time's sake I'll assume you're not lying) to be a genuine glitch that needs to be addressed. Someone should probably get around to posting that somewhere it will be seen.

Looks like the OP reported this on the official bug tracker: http://bugs.taleworlds.com/edit_bug.aspx?id=3662

Good catch Fillmore. I'm suprised no one noticed until now.

That's the reason why you put all choices in agility, strength and charisma (warrior, page, troubadour, loss).

Because intelligence doesn't give you an extra skill point either, so putting points in intelligence when leveling up starting as low as 4, gives you about 5 extra skill points to spend. And unlike proficiencies these points can't be gained otherwise.

...

That's just plain incorrect. I just tested this ingame to be sure, the extra points for Intelligence ARE given. Please check your facts before you spread false information.
