Change surcoat's back colour using custom banner

If I have a custom banner how can I change the back colour on heraldic surcoats??
and additionally, how can I add more banners?

In script_initialize_banner_info, the backcolor for each banner mesh is initialized in hex and placed in troop slots with index equal to their offset from the first banner.
