For anyone still interested...

Carlos Puigdemont arrived in Denmark this morning, and now the Spanish authorities may reissue the arrest warrant: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-42772758

EDIT: Apparently they won't, probably because they'll run into the same hurdles as when he was in Belgium.

He's talking at the University now. You should be able to see it live here (in English): http://polsci.ku.dk/kalender/debate-with-carles-puigdemont/

He was greeted like a small time celebrity here in Denmark. A pathetic spectacle.
Allow me to apologise to the Spanish people.

By running off to Brussels and Denmark instead of staying at home and facing risk of arrest. sitting without a voice in a Spanish prison.

Fixed that.

Sure, it was a spectacle that suited his agenda just fine, legitimising his cause by taking him serious both in a debate at the University of Copenhagen and our parliament, and so what? It once again showed how ridiculous that "indivisible"-sentence in the Spanish constitution is, and how silly the legal charges of rebellion are. They don't have any parallel in Danish or Belgian law, and thus he's a free man here, able to go to debates and express his opinions without fear of imprisonment. Apologising for having an open-minded and free country is pathetic.

I don't think he should be prosecuted in Denmark and he's free to speak.
I simply disagree with his agenda, and that mock election (not living up to international standards of elections).

Fixed that. Fixed that for you.
Such is the price that must be paid for independence.  Perhaps other, more worthwhile, advocates of independence will take up the cause.  Still the numbers show that a majority of Catalans prefer the union with Spain.

When young people are pro-independence or anti-establishment, you know it's really about their parents and they will change their views once they get a job and their own place.

Yeah I tell ya, all those hooligans who gained independence in the past were just some 12 year old punks with no real reason to ever want independence.

It's the supporters around the world, not the actual people that do actual things because it matters to them.
That's why the exiled guy visits universities and not retirement homes.

Yet you apologise on behalf of Denmark because... he got a nice reception?

A pity he can't get a proper one then. That's basically what he's asking for.

Yeah, look at all those young people from universities that voted for an independent Britain... Oh wait...

He probably visited the university and the parliament in Denmark partly because they are respected institutions in a country that he views as an example to follow (in terms of low corruption, etc. etc.), and because it shows that he can walk into such places and be taken serious (strengthening his legitimacy), not because he expects to find overwhelming sympathy for his cause there.

Sure, people with a more established life will be more reluctant to risk instability, and it's probably true that older people are more conservative (in the literal sense) if we have to generalise.
