The player death will be permanent, so if you're playing on realistic save option (which is more fun I think), you'll get to restart it a few times.

Dragon skin armor (actually made from crocodile skin :grin: )
 
Silver dragonscale armor! Swap that amulet of reflection for an amulet of life-saving!
 
Haha.. I never actually played Nethack.

Chel does this thing where, instead of making one huge mod, he makes a buttload of amazingly addicting arena mods! And btw Chel, I still play all of them, especialy the 1v8 CS mod, thanks again for that  :wink: . This looks like the bst of your work so far, it looks tottaly new and diferant then anthing I've seen around the forums, so good lck with it, and I cant wait o see what ideas you've came up with this time!
 
Is anyone still playing the Severance mod? Hopefully, this will match to its adictiveness.
 
No, I don't think so :wink: not really playable yet since I decided to redo some things.
(if you want any of the item textures, let me know and I can send them to you separately)

The idea has also changed a little. You will not start out with full set of good gear. Instead you find yourself with very little, thrown into the catacombs and you have find your way out collecting better items along the way.

I'm still having the problem with the map where I can't move to some parts, even though I covered the whole thing in 'plain' terrain type so there is no water or mountains or forest anywhere. Not sure what's the cause.

Didn't think anyone was plaything the Severance mod still :grin:
 
wy dont you just upload it so we can all check the things youve already mdae out btw i think you should give the iron shield the same color as the paladin armor and give a warrior trowing daggers instead of a crossbow
 
If you still have problems with spawning on impassible tiles or more specificly want t make sure a party spawns in a specific place simply set their spawn radius in triggers.py to zero on all parties. This makes it so that the party spawns ecactly at the spawn point and nowhere else. I used this in darkmod to have assasins spawn right on top of you such that you don't even see them coming. :twisted:
 
Thanks Ahadhran, I'll try that. Although I thought that if part of the area within the spawn radius is water the game will recognize it and spawn the party on land that is within the spawn radius. That isnt true?

The gun arena and Severance were both good fun--a nice break from regular M&B. :mrgreen:
This looks like it will be quite fun as well.

For the map error, try looking at module_info.txt for errors.  I've had similar problems with maps.

How would randomly generated maps be done, anyway?  You can change flora_kinds.txt to add new stuff, but that's always messy and can't be used in-doors.  I guess you'd have to make several dungeon scenes and 1 would be randomly picked.
 
Randomly generated mazes are very simple. Think of it as a giant grid of square rooms with doors on NESW. Now we go through the grid and randomly set some of the doors to sealed (i.e. walls), some to open (more sophisticated algorithms are easily possible). Now just keep track of the player's position in the grid, and voila, random maze.
