Castle Garrison help

Well I just recently got this mod and I just want to start of by saying it's truly amazing. Unlike any I've ever played before. Anyways, I recently fortified my manor(Rothbury) and then a castle popped up next to it. It had a unit called a local village idiot in it, so I was going to take him out (I read a post that he was some sort of joke or something?) and I couldn't so I tried to change the castle garrison size and I went back to the marshal. Later they started a siege on my castle and the marshal took forever to get over there, and it turns out some guy with like 20 troops took my castle which I had set to a medium garrison size? So I quit to desktop before the game saved and I'm about to turn on cheats so I can fix it, but I'm just curious why my castle didn't have any troops in it?

I browsed the forums a bit and looked for anything related to auto garrison and local village idiot before posting this.
 
It can take up to 1 week until your castle has generated a couple of man as a garrison, with garrison size set to huge there will normally be like 30 men after a couple of days. And every other couple of days another 30, etc. I always would set the garrison size to huge in the beginning, you can always cut them down to a lower size later on 'reduce to the cap' it is called or something like that, ie. after setting it to huge and having like 300 men in it, you can change the garrison size to medium and pick the option 'reduce to the cap', then the garrison will be cut down to some 150 men.

If it doesn't work, go to camp->mod options and untick the auto-garrison feature, then recruit all the lances available in the castle and/or village and put them into your castle, and reactivate the auto-garrison feature afterwards.
