I think tournaments should be given way more importance, I know you get a flag outside the arena place, but how about having also:
-Tents outside the city walls for tournament fighters
-Jugglers, entretainers around the arena place
-Feasts at night: Make the NPCs and the ones that participated in the tournament enjoy a drink after fighting, the lord's keep should have a party too and invite the player if he won.
-Special decoration for the event
