Caravans move too quickly.

See title. Caravans move too quickly.
You need an all-mounted, preferably all-cav, party to effectively hunt them down. And the party can't be too large because of the (hidden) malus to movespeed on the map due to party size.

I believe this has been changed a few times during development. Just like the snowballing, it's difficult to please everyone, probably because people have very different perceptions of how the game should be.

That said, I think caravans should be much slower, but better guarded.

Nahh, as Apocal noted, it allows for another potential specialized strategy of maintaining a smaller but mobile force, as opposed to maintaining a larger force strong enough to take on lord parties. If you make them stronger, but slower, they will essentially just become another lord party.

Caravans should be a little bit slower, imo something like -0.3 to caravan movement speed should be fine. While it's enjoyable to trap caravans in natural chokepoints the first few times, it gets tiring real fast.

I say hunt caravans or hunt lords (the better option anyway).

You guys are just too greedy.

I thought they should adjust the bandits, they are intend to loot the caravans, but in current version, they are too slow and too weak to defeat the caravans.
also the caravans should be less powerful, they have too much t4 and t5 soliders and bring more cargo.
the outcome should be more caravan were caught and destory by bandits, but still enough cargo to be trade to make cities grow.

Caravans need in a majority of cases, to earn their money back. They need to earn 22K. If they don't do that in a majority of cases, they're pointless in game.

Therefore they need to be fast enough or armed well enough to evade or defeat a majority of looters and enemy parties a majority of the time. Arming them more extends the time it takes for them to turn a profit. So speed is the best option.

It used to be that caravans stopped surviving mid-late game as bandits became too powerful (fast bandits catch them, others pile on). But they've adjusted them so that they survive reasonably well now. They're income sources for players, that after a long period of tweaking seem to be working at the moment, so I wouldn't want them to be tinkered with.

If you want low hanging fruit for banditry, enemy parties will always bring you more cash, otherwise lurk at the choke points as mentioned above.

They are actually very survivable if you're not part of a faction. Something like 98% of caravans survive 2 years and according to Flesson19's video, they earn an average of 228 denars per day on if formed on day 1 (more than 19k per in game year), the amount increases as time goes on, which makes the lower tier caravans both profitable starting from day 1, and a decent option for levelling up companions.

Now, if we're talking about their survivability when the player is part of a faction, yeah it's quite frankly ****. There's so much room to improve there, but the main problem isn't their speed; it's the lack of intelligence and survival instinct of caravans, making them go and actively trade in hostile territory even when they don't have to. Also player caravans apparently don't react to hostile lords/minor faction soldiers and try to avoid them from what I've heard, though I haven't verified it myself.

Nerfing the speed of caravans a tiny bit won't have a huge effect on its survivability (though it will have an effect on profitability, how much I'm not sure though). I just want them to be a tiny bit slower so that they're not as annoying to ambush and we won't have to maneuver as much (although admittedly, the precise manuevering necessary to catch a caravan is also kinda fun for the first few times).

So you want them nerfed because you're bored of cornering them in a bottleneck and would rather chase them down?

I'm not entirely sure that's a strong enough argument, as you yourself suggest that they're working well as intended currently.

I'd suggest maybe this might be something that is modworthy. Rather than changing a core game mechanic.

All cav party can easy chase caravans, battanian infantry can catch caravans in forest. High scouting with good perks also helps. You can ambush them or look for caravans in bandit infested places. Disorganized penalty is huge. TW should add ambush mechanic that would also help and made game more interesting.

Oh yes an ambush perk would be fun!

Any form of tactical skill or even terrain use would be helpful, yes.

Atm the map you have is obviously plains... yet spawns dense forest in combat, etc.
