Caravan Suggestions

I apologize if these have been suggested before... I did a search and couldn’t find anything.

I was thinking about the caravans, and had a few ideas I feel could be fun in the game. Nothing vital mind you, but some things that might add to the choices we can make in the game.

#1. Be able to hire your own caravans. We can be hired to protect others’ caravans, but we should have the option to hire our own to transport trade goods from city to city for profit. It should cost a large initial investment to hire the caravan/purchase the goods, but if the caravan makes it to the destination we’d get a higher percentage back than we paid... e.g. pay $4000 for a Wool Caravan, and receive back $5500 if it makes it to its destination, or more or less money depending on how far away you choose the destination city. I think this could add quite a bit, since there’d be a lot more personal investment to protecting that caravan if it was yours and your money on the line!

#2. Borcha and Marnid, Caravan masters! I think an option for when you ask them to leave your party would be for them to set up a trade route which they’d then bounce from city to city, earning a small profit to share with you when you encounter them again. This way giving them troops would make a true difference in the game, as it could be the difference whether they’re successful in making it from city to city or not, and whether you earn money from them. Again, this could add as coming across Merchant Borcha being chased by some Dark Hunters would have more personal investment. Plus, adding points to their "trade" could influence how much profit they make.

#3. Perhaps have weapons and goods caravans that are timed to roughly correlate with the restocks in the cities... and that you could encounter and raid or even trade with them on route.

That’s all I have for now... any thoughts?

Good idea, with with flaws. Their will be ways to cheat the NPC's for prices, actually having Borcha and marnid comprehend the buying/selling, and furthermore, not getting screwed up in the coding!

I think we wouldn't have to overcomplicate it though. For the Borcha and Marnid idea it could be coded along the same lines as the salary we recieve when we join a faction... for every day that they spend on "caravan" mode they get "x" amount of dollars profit to give to you. Each time they're attacked and beaten, this is reset to zero... and of course once they've lost their army, they'll never be successful until you give them a new one.
