I like the story of the Empire and would like to know wich city was the capital back then?

Capital of the former Empire?!

Would have to say the city of the Empress in the south.
Depends on what you mean by "back then."
The capital of the Empire immediately before the 3-way civil war that the game starts with? Lycaron. That was where Arenicos had his palace, and that was where Arenicos died. It's also Rhagaea's capital.
The original capital of the Empire, back when it was a Republic? We don't know. We know the Calradoi came from the "hill country" between the Battanian Forests and the southern sea -- which might be the territories under the Western Empire right now? But none of the encyclopedia entries for the villages in the area imply that that was the old Imperial homeland.
There was a developer diary for the Vlandians that said that the Imperial capital of "Baravenos" was conquered by the Vlandians at one point. It's not clear which city is Baravenos. Some people have speculated that it's Pravend, but the developer comments in settlements.xml say that Pravend's name comes from "Calradic Parzeonerea: 'City of He Who Rules By Heaven's Will.'"
The Empire developer diary says the Imperial capital moved from place to place, and the emperors called the popular assembly wherever the army camp was. Senators, in turn, moved to the provinces. This lore is probably for game mechanic reasons: because all the lords with fiefs are senators.
So in short:
Last known capital of Empire: Lycaron
A previous historical capital at some point: Baravenos, location unknown
Original city of the Calradians: Unknown: somewhere in the hill country.
The original capital is seems to indicate the Vlandian capital as they seized control of it , Praven = Baravenos Due to the civil war no Imperial faction has been bothered to recover it , or so the lore seems to indicate. From a Geo-Political standpoint it would most certainly require war with the now independant Vlandians an endeavor which could not be entertained until after one of the Imperial factions defeats the others.
