Can't run 751

I need some help regarding earlier versions, as I want to run 751 in addition to 960. After installing the game, both in addition to 960 and as the only M&B installed, little happens after running the M&B exe. Theres no program listed anywhere on the program bar, and no game pops up. If I run ctrl+alt+delete and check processes, I can see M&B, several versions if I click repeatedly, but as said there is nothing popping up. I run vista 32 bit home premium. 960 runs fine.

Do you have each version installed in seperate folders? They cant be in the same folder or you wont get anywhere.

I've tried both having them in different named M&B folders in programfiles and in another programfiles folder, never together.

Did you download and install them into seperate folders though? Like C:/programs...../mount&blade and then C:/programs ....mount&blade2?

I had similar symptoms getting M&B set up to run on XP 64-bit.
I had to navigate to the .exe file, view its properties, go into advanced settings / compatibility mode for windows XP. That fixed it for me.

edit: Then again, for vista you'll probably need to jump through flaming hoops to accomplish the same thing.
edit2: vista 32-bit? *implodes*

As explained in the very first post, I once had only 751 installed and as such seperate folders was not and issue, and yes, I named them differently (i.e mount&blade and mount&blade-0.751)

I have had the same problem myself. Using vista and with several versions of MB installed the last version that works for me is 808. 751 just doesnt seem to run on vista with alternate versions. I don't have a solution for you sorry I was going to try removing all the pretty (...useless...) stuff from vista and see what happens.

oh damnit, i have the same problem, i have vista 64 bit, and the oldest version of M&B that works is 808, anything older isnt working

I haven't used Vista much, so this may not be valid.
But I'd like to know, did any of you try setting the compatibility mode on the exe file? I seem to recall that I had to do this after one of those .8xx versions to use 64-bit XP...

You need to set it to use one core, open up M&B and in the task manager set the processor affinity to only 1 core

To clarify the above... first, open the launcher. Next, hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete to open the task manager. Right click the process and choose Set Affinity. Uncheck all except CPU 0 and click OK. Now start the game. In theory, Mount&Blade should now work just as if you had a single-core CPU.

Note that you will have to do this every time you launch an unsupported version. There are programs which can modify the core affinity in the executable itself, but I have never used them so I can't advise in that regard.

No it didn't, but the newer versions support multi-core CPUs anyway; under normal circumstances you should not need to enable that setting.

I hate necroing but I really, really REALLY want to play RPGmod and the only way to do that is to get .751 up.  So how can I run it on Windows 7?
