i have been playing this game for a year now, and just today, i can't open the game. it said that mount and blade has stopped working. i tried again and again, it has the same thing.

i have currently the 1.158 version. Basicaly before the loading game begins, it will go back to the desktop, with the stopped working message. I will try reinstalling, will reinstalling delete saved games 
Complete reinstall would delete your save games. However, if you go to C:\Documents\ and backup the "Savegames" folder there and then delete everything. Should work.
I did the installing, it still gave the same message
Go to Documents and type %appdata% in the address bar and delete Warband folder from there too. Then re-install again. If that doesn't work, ask some experts here: http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/board,6.0.html

If you use steam you may have the same problem as me.
I dont know what caused it but i would get "warband has stopped working" right after the opening video.
if you get that and use steam, try Disabling the in game Steam Overlay.
to do this:
-Go to steam
-Top right hit steam
-Settings
-go down to In-Game
-uncheck "enable the steam Overlay while in game"
this stopped MnB crashing for me, and i hope this works for you.
note: you will not be able to shift tab and send messages, or take screen shots. But that is better then not being able to play
