Can't capture villages

Hiya.

Got my own kingdom and am trying to eliminate the Vaegirs. Trouble is though they have some villages (that keep sending out scouts and patrols) that are on areas where I own the castles. How do I capture these villages? I cal loot and pillage, force them to give me supplies etc but not capture it. The CPU however loot my villages next to my castles and then also capture those villages.

Playing native expansion and am using a setting where settlements can't rebel.

Villages are attached to either a town or a castle. When you capture the town or castle, you also capture those villages.

NVM. I don't know how NE mod works.

Yeah these villages are clearly attached to towns and castles that I already own.

Could it be that they rebelled and then were captured by an enemy faction?

I have to turn on the setting making it possible for settlements to rebel and then capture them? I think that setting mentions your own settlements only.

At some point, the town must have changed ownership and then the king who captured it split the town from the villages. How to get the attachment back I don't know, without letting the town fall to whoever owns the villages and then taking it back again?

Sometimes it's not entirely clear. It may look like they're meant to be but they're not

take over the castle or city around the village then u can get all the villages attached to them!!!!

We'll everything around these villages is owned by me. The closest towns and Castles not owned by me are far away really. Guess I'll have to let those castles fall and them re-capture them.

Just a guess but is it in Nord territory? In the corner of the map opposite the Vaegir side?

Edit: However, I just realised you're not using Native. I've no idea about the map in NE

That's the exact area, yes. You know about this?

None of the villages seem to be logically joined to the castles there. It took me a while to find the right castles which were joined to them

You should be able to go into 'Quests' then 'Locations' to see which villages are attached to which towns.

It says which town each village is by and then checking that town can confirm that those villages are attached to it.

For example:

Rivacheg controls Shapeshte and Mazen (in native)

Ah. I'll check it out the way Gimpy explained.

Don't think that's it though, as I owned those villages but then seemed to lose them without losing any castles, I was even notified how "X village has been captured by lord X".
