Cant Ask for Vassalage...Bug??

Ive seen a few people complain about this same promise on here.  In my current campaign the dialogue bar to ask to become a vassal doesn't exist.  It was there at the beginning of the game, but at some point it went away and I cant ask any of the kings. 

Just to be clear, I'm not talking about not meeting the requirements to be a vassal, I've played more hours of Warband than any reasonable person should and I understand the system.  The option simply is not available to click on when talking to the faction leaders.



So, is there some point in the story where you cant even see the option for vassalage? Or is this just a bug?

I believe this may have been bugged with the newest patch. I haven't seen the dialogue option since then.

I had the problem before the latest patch.

Chances are you have started a faction quest, thus making you devoted an unable to apply for vassalage.

However if you continue the questline, you will be invited in after a certain progress in the story.
