Resolved Can't activate my copy of Warband: Unable to connect to activation server

I'm trying to install the non-steam version of Warband. I downloaded 1.174 here: https://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Warband

When I start the game it asks for my serial number, but when I enter the number and click 'activate' I get a 'unable to connect to activation server' error

the client also offers a "offline" activation option but it directs me to this website: http://wact.taleworlds.com/manual.php

Update - looks like it's working now, I was able to connect to the server and activate it
