Can't activate game with serial key

I bought a retail box of 'Mount&Blade Warband' and can't activate the game client, so i'm stuck at level 7.  The provided activation/serial key is not accepted by neither Steam nor the original Taleworlds client. My key consist of six columns four characters each (6x4), so it doesn't fit the Steam(5x5) nor the Talesworld(4x4) mask. How do i get a proper key?

This has been reported to the devs (by myself) via PM and our super-secret Admin board, but has yet to receive a response.

The key they printed on the manual is a Hearts of Iron III serial not a Mount&Blade:Warband key, looks like paradox mixed things up.

Curious. Do you have any more info on this? Have you been in contact with Paradox?
My attempts to get Taleworlds official attention have not yet borne fruit.

Not much, the key starts with the characters 'HOI3', so i thought i'll give it try. It worked, i managed to activate a Hearts of Iron 3 game at the paradox homepage and made a request at paradox support, but still waiting for an answer. So nothing official yet.

Requested a new key via [email protected] the german(?) distributer and got one today, so problem solved.
