Cannot find Serial Key

I've purchased my copy of Warband today, but my computer is so old (my computer is ****, I know) that I don't have a DVD Drive, only a CD Drive. Now as the main site provides a download for the game, I downloaded that, but to my dismay inside the box there is no serial key, only an "Activation Code", and this Activation Code is for the Paradox Forums. Now as I have paid £20 for this, I want to ask: how can I activate my game? Thanks.

I am confused as to how you downloaded a box 
As far as I know there are two keys, one for the retail boxed version, that requires installation via Steam. This is 25 digits long.

The download version, or the one you can get from Steam once installed is 16 digits in format: xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx
What format is your key? Is it rejected by the Taleworlds download?

Installation through steam, eh? I think that's the one, it's 25 digits long
