"Side Gate" has been referred to as "Barn Gate" in all the US games I've been a part of. The "front" and "back" are labelled correctly according to how most people see it. I always refer to that house next to the side ladder as the "side house" or "side rooftop", because it's the one roof in town that sees the most action.

What is called "side gate" in the map on this thread should either be called "barn gate" or "stable gate" as either makes sense. It is easy to identify which gate you're talking about.
What is called "main gate" should be called "gate tower" because that's what it is. There's no confusion there. It can also be called the "portcullis" tower without confusion.
What is called "back gate" is a little more difficult to name. Perhaps you could call it "street gate" because it's directly in line with the main street. It could also be called "fort gate" because of the large tower and amount of defensible rooftops around it.
But the point is that we should use terms that physically describe what we're talking about, not ambiguous directional terms.
