Can I renounce my allegiance, keep lands, without going to war?

I own a nice chunk of the northern Vaegir lands as a Nord Vassal...i'm biding my time right now, but my RtR is still very low, and my relationship with most Nord Lords is good, but still low 30s. King Ragnar basically never gives me any castles/fiefs anymore...i'm tempted to rebel, but don't want to go to war with my Nord Lord buddies (except maybe one or two of them).

What's the best conditions I can have in place to establish peace with my former faction?

I know a bit of the formula, but tell me what's worked best for you.

hmm as far as I'm aware you can't rebel and not end up at war with them. What you possibly could do if it appeals to you, is rebel and then swear vassalage with a faction that is far away from your lands. Say the Sarrinids or Rhodaks, someone who is unlikely to go to war with the Nords anytime soon. That will quickly end the war.

Well, as far as I know, if you lead an attack on a town/castle, ask for it, but get denied, you should be able to break away as a rebel faction....

Based on what other people have said, if the faction you rebel against is engaged in a war on two fronts, then they should sue for peace within a few days....
