Can anyone help me get rid of the Kidnapped Girl?

I know she's had a tough few weeks, but I just can't have her following us around any more.

This is a result of a known issue, whereby, if you fail to get her home before the quest expires, she's stuck in your party permanently. I had two days left to get her home when I rescued her near Dashbigha, and I didn't make it all the way to Swadia - quest failed while I raced to get her back. That was weeks ago. She's been with us so long now that I've forgotten exactly where she's from. Dhirim? Suno?

No way to disband her, either. And when I talk to her, all she ever wants to talk about is her family that she misses so much and can't wait to see again, and will it be long before she gets home? It breaks my heart to tell her the truth so I always say, "Soon."

My all-cavalry company of hardened adventures looks great when they thunder into battle, but there she is in her pink dress and white apron, chasing after them to go fight Vaegir Knights or Rhodok Sergeants or whoever we're facing. Brave girl, but this has to stop. If nothing else she's slowing us down on the world map, since I can't even give her a horse. On the other hand, she's level 5 now, so at least she's applying herself.

And to think, after all this... I never knew, nor ever learned, her name.

Does anyone know of a cheat or edit I can use to remove her from my party? I've never modded or used cheats before. And I'm two years into the game so I don't want to restart. I'm also on "realistic" so I don't have old save-games to go back to.

Going to be a little unchivalric here...
How about engaging some enemies and let the rest of your troops stay behind. While little miss-kidnapped girl charges alone and valiantly into battle. Who knows maybe her pink dress will scare the rest of the enemy?
Then after she has softened up the enemy and done the heroic last stand (unless she is knocked unconcious) let the rest of the army clean up the enemy?

And yeah, I have the same problem. I know where she was from in my case - Dhirim - but there's no way to loose her. Can't put her in my garrison, can't sell her into slavery, can't tell her to go away, and noone will acknowledge her existence. And now I get WARNING:ILLEGAL ENTITY in battles. LOTS of it.

This should work like other, similar missions:
The timer stops when you've completed the objective, and you then have (virtually) unlimited time to return the girl. Or something.

Well, thanks anyway I posted in the bug forum, maybe the devs can provide a fix. Or maybe on the boards somewhere someone has a mod that lets you edit your party.

But the biggest problem is, what am I going to tell my wife? Lady Nelda surely is going to want to know who this girl is I'm keeping around, since she obviously doesn't fight like Matheld or Klethi.

I made a minimod that should fix this. Let me know if this works.

Instructions:
1. Go to your M&B directory, find the folder Modules, and back up the file "conversations.txt."
2. Replace the conversations.txt with the downloaded file.
3. Talk to your kidnapped girl in game and she should leave.
4. Put your backup back into the modules folder.

Net result - kidnapped girl gone, module files return to normal.

That's got me thinking I'll fail a kidnap rescue just so I can add to this riveting saga!!

Haha well I think I know what the problem was. Stockholm Syndrome. She didn't really want to go home - when she talked about her "family", maybe she was referring to the bandits - her new family. Now that she's been released, she's probably back there in the Khanate with them (the ones I let escape), and rejoined their outlaw band.

My own fault for leaving her there with them so long before mounting a rescue.

Hmmmm, This has got me thinking.  Does anyone know if you can run the npc editor on the kidnapped girl and turn her into a equip-able hero?  I could totally see a unit of "kidnapped girls" in plate armor fighting for my cause.

My kidnapped girl story starts in Sargoth when I was just a young mercenary general from Swadia.  The girl was all the way down in Narrah and the money was exceptionally good.  So of course I took the job.  Somewhere between then and the time it took to dispatch her captors, The Nords decided to invade Swadia.  Reaching Sargoth would prove to be impossible despite my good standing with their common folk.  So she stayed with me, cooking, doing laundry, watching the baggage train.  Several rescued farm families came and went but she was the only one to stick around.

Through the course of the war I achieved Lordhood.  And she became level 5, not too shabby.  I think she could take Marnid in a straight up fight.  I have seen her staring longingly at my great Champion Alayen and he has shown her a kindness in the past.  I have also caught Klethi spying on her bathing in the stream.  Whats that about? 

I hope one day that she can fully become a member of my band of merry souls and be more than just that kidnapped girl.
