A while ago i was playing in a battle server, and our team was getting beat pretty bad, so i suggested we "camp" our spawn. (also i do not think "camping" is really the right word, more like "not charging right into the enemy")
When i suggested this, some one made the statement "camping is to gamey" At the time i was just like "OK, just got to go with the team" but the more i thought about that statement, the more i started to think about it.
I would like to start off by saying, that the whole idea of not doing something because its "gamey" is kind of silly, i mean, it IS a game (now i do the whole "honor" thing and let the last person alive duel, but thats just me) but the main problem i have with it is, that it IS realistic.
Medivile armies would sit camped across from each other for days, and each day (not EVERY day) they might form ranks and present battle away, and if the opponent did, then they might fight, or just "skirmishing" (having there archers fire back and forth) and after the enemy had lost enough men from this, they would advance, and force an engagement.
That is pretty much how it is in mount and blade, who ever stays back and lets there archers kill some of the enemy will then be able to advance and when they fight, they have the power of numbers.
My main point is that, "camping" is not only realistic, but often a good idea. Now i am not saying its the "win all" tactic, there are times when its a BAD idea, but there are a lot of times that i have seen when its a GOOD idea.
Also, in closing i would like clan leaders opinion about this.
