I agree, Tigerstripe is my favourite US pattern.
UCP is utter garbage.

Why are those pixelated patterns so popular? What's the reason to make them like that?

Fractals, that's why.

They blend in better over various distances.

That's interesting. Things are never quite the way they seem.

My favorite camo patterns are the ones used by the US from the 1980s to the mid 2000s:

Hahah.
Mat camouflage.

A-TACS is pretty interesting. It fits well in a variety of places.
To me it seems mostly to resemble a worn and dirty single colour uniform. Which can be as effective as many of the fancy ones.

Also, UCP haters rejoice!

"In May 2014, it was unofficially announced that the Scorpion W2 pattern would replace the ineffective Universal Camouflage Pattern (UCP).[3] On 31 July 2014, the Army formally announced that the Scorpion W2 pattern, officially named the Operational Camouflage Pattern (OCP), will begin being issued in uniforms in the summer of 2015"

Scorpion is vaguely similar to the rather popular MultiCam also created by Crye Precision. Updated to Scorpion W2 by Natick.
