Camera help

I just bought the game today at walmart, I've been wanting it for a long time but it was just never around where I live, I saw it today and had to buy it.

Amazing game, but the third person camera is driving me insane, I've read online and in-game that I'm supposed to use the num pad - and + to zoom my 3rd person camera in and out but it's not working and I really want to enjoy this game rather than loathe it all because of a camera angle.

Nope, whoever gave those instructions is stupid.

All you can do to change the view is press R. (Default) Which changes it to first person view.

There's a mod that changes the perspective. It isn't exactly easily moddable, but the perspective it gives is quite a bit better than the one in M&B.

Also if you press squigly (~) then the camera zooms out silightly, but you have to hold it, so it really isn't practical
