It's fine if you're using cavalry and are aware of its super powers.
I'm actually tackling people that are saying that cavalry is fine balanced and should stay as it is.
Cavalry is OP, period. Anyone who states the opposite is likely to (intentionally or not) be exploiting the lack of balance.

Here I had my friend test this by standing directly in front of the horse and shoot the horses head until it dies. If the horses head was invincible like 578 says, then the horse should not have died and my shield should have taken damage.
Was not the case in this video.
If the shield actually did have a 180 hitbox, then in the video I should have not died, and the shield should have taken damage.
That was wrong, as shown in this video.
Now can we stop complaining about a nonexistent issue?
I also want to ask, what exactly is so bad about me playing deathmatch?
Congratulations, you know how to find exceptions. It's easy to poke at an argument from the sidelines and laugh, but the video also shows how situational it is. There were no more than 2 cav per team at any time on the first map of that match. Are we going to point at this video and say cav is OP because they dominate open terrain? Is that the argument you want to advance?
It's not about archery in most of time. Against archers, it works if you are Inf. It's ridiculously hard to hit someone in the head when you are aiming there if the dude is using a shield. But that's a different story. I think that was the Taleworlds bubble gum fix for lack of animations. They kind of simultaneously made the shield blocking automatically stuff without showing that to the players. Most of the time that just makes people angry.
You should test that cav thing with swords in different situations. In cav you also have an advantage that you don't need to aim the lance very perfectly. The lance kind of "finds the target" automatically in some situations. So from a person who is the target, it looks like the cav is going to miss badly, but then suddenly the lance just snaps to your head and kills you.
Also, you can kill also with the arm of the lance, not just with the tip. That I think is very annoying also, because if someone is using 2 meters lance, it sometimes feels in close combat as deadly as 0,8 meters javelin or sword.
That is typically as annoying also in melee. You are not safe even if you are almost kissing your enemy, because he still can easily kill you with his 190 cm spear. And that has no logic behind.
But all of these problems are there because mount and blade is not a multiplayer game. The multiplayer mode just added over it, because people wanted it so much. These things work perfectly in single player.

You should have tried shooting from different angles and different distances to the shield, to see where the magnet covers. As others have said arrows work differently than melee.
I tried getting some footage last night, but for some reason all the cav wouldn't put up their shields :/ So I didn't get good examples.
In the first clip you can see the shield blocks a lot further than it actually is and protected the horse from taking the blow. It's kinda on the edge of horse and shield territory but others and I can tell you that there are attacks that are clearly against the horses head that are still blocked.
In the second clip you can see the 180 shield take effect, it's not the best example as I could've went further left but again, I didn't get the best footage last night. Will try again sometime and maybe I'll get better examples.

I could also do some recording. Those are the situations that happen 5 times/hour in TG-arena. I btw love that server where you play. My ping just is so horrible there that I can't join very often.

Cav dominate in all terrain, in open maps you can just fit more of them in. You only need 2-3 on a closed map and they still do all the work, I'm sure that's balanced.

hope this is multiplayer only for the sake of balance. Otherwise im gonna have to go into modding so I can fix this 2 handers melting through horse bull****.

In two of three gifs, cav rider got hit directly on his head with two handed sword. Even if it wasn't cav but regular troop on foot, that troop would die in one hit on his head as well.
I think it is about cav skills. If player is skilled, he wouldn't rush on enemy two handed crowd like that lol, if he does then he should accept death.
Are you guys aware that in game developpement industry, when showing a game, devs have to make a special difficulty jokingly called "press difficulty" ? Because most of the journalists that come and test the games are just **** at gaming. And it's ok, you don't have to be perfectly good at something to be able to talk about it with accuracy, those are 2 different things (though I'd say beeing good at gaming is better if you want to understand how deep a gameplay is).
There was a recent story about a game called Cuphead. Those guys did not make a press difficulty, and the journalist got **** at it, and shat at.
You need that good press for the game, because despite beeing passionate and all, money IS an issue if you want a viable company and products. And a frustrated player won't say nice things about your game.
So yeah, expect the game to be harder and/or damage to be lower, I'd bet my hand on it.
lol @ comparing player infantry vs cavalry AI that they LITERALLY step in front of him and get 1 shotted. These gifs mean nothing. Horses will not get 1 shotted in multiplayer, TW is not stupid.
