Well folks, I have been looking about for 'antique' style maps of Calradia, for reference and because it'd look nice, I found some, but what i found was outdated or inaccurate  anyhoo, I decided that along with playing the game, I'd make (or attempt to make) my own olde-world style map for Calradia in its current incarnation.

hence my map project, I've been working on it for a few weeks now, making stead progress chipping away at it, I'm reaching a point where I'm going to up-load it for everyone to see etc, (and initially I'd like feedback to help build it or put in features I've missed or things people would like to see on there.

proof of my work thus far.. complete with sneek peek low-res corner of the map...

If anyone could help or wants to help the following would be appreciated, but not essential

  • icon artist (for the cities + towns), if anything this is the most required position.
  • map specialist? [cartographer for a 'real take on things]
  • general artist to assist with general graphics

as you can see I'm working in layers, and most 'important' things are seperated to a layer so I can easily drop in new or alternative layers of graphics. watch this space, upload within a week I hope.

Amazon for me in the future then!

heh, well It's been quite fun making this map so if anything I'm still going to finish and upload...

but in all seriousness, I'm jealous! I cant say how long I've puzzled why there are no maps available and now I realise I'm just missing out! :? c'est lá vie.

I take it the whole purpose of this is to print it out and display it as a wall piece? Having it as a reference seems rather silly because you can always zoom out and see the map. :P So I wouldn't necessarily worry so much about how accurate it is, but how good it looks.

ok back again, I have exported what I think is a good 1st version btu need somewhere to upload the image, my photobucket account limits size/file size

The picture is in PNG format, 3000 x 2900 pixels and is 13mb in size. anyone know where I can put it?

(also what the heck was all that nonsense in previous posts about?!)

Miss Speller!

ooh a missus?

No it's Mispeller. I understand that you speak another language but thats how it's spelled just so you know

True. And anyways it's kinda lame to post just to point out someone's grammar mistakes.  :D
I as a finnish person do make many mistakes too. Actually, I like when people tell me when I spell wrong. How other way could I learn? For example I thought for a long time that you can spell "cavalry" in two different ways (calvary was the other one), because it was such a common mistake "in the internet".

Well in that case...

I am a Finnish person so I make many (a lot of) mistakes too.

:P

I honestly hate when people make posts like that in worldwide forums like this. Sometimes I say, "Hey I have NO clue what you're saying"... but who am I to correct the person on their structure or spelling. If they want to know they are more than welcome to ask.

Actually you would just need a comma in front of the "I as a ..." and if you change that to "am" then the rest of the sentence wouldn't make sense.

Actually, I like Miss Speller, as well as Mrs Speller or Lady Speller (it is M&B anyway) ;)

...

I'd be careful here, some people spell the way it is difficult to find out what they mean. I find Mabons is quite often right to point it out and does it in a cultural manner.
On the other hand Tyfedo is right: some spelling or grammar mistakes have to be accepted and forgiven. The forum is for everyone to contribute, including those who do not have high language skills.
It is quite difficult to say where to put the line between what you find is ignoring the readers and what is making mistakes though doing best to avoid them.

Speaking of... where's the damn map! Bring forth the map or suffer the pain of the great forum Lords.

If you hadn't noticed in between all the random plethora of posts in this thread, I'd asked if anyone knew where I could upload it, Its a big picture, and photobucket wont take it without resizing and mussing about with it.

any help?

http://www.imageshack.us/ ? Photobucket shouldn't be doing anything to the image. It'll shrink (thumbnail) but you should be able to click on it to see the full size.

Imageshack will reduce it's size, photobucket definitely shouldn't reduce it's size though, if all else fails, .zip it and upload it to the repository or some file hosting site
