hey, I downloaded the mod... but it's exactly the same as native

did I do something wrong?

oh ****!  hope it's just you... no offence. I have no idea. anyone else who downloaded, is it the same as Native?

okay, now, I could just post the source codes... then it should fix everything if you add it yourself. (but it crashes A LOT!)

Vaegir Arcani: the arcani are the most feared part of the vaegir army. wearing armor coloured black, and using only the most gruesome and frightening weapons, the arcani are a force to be reckoned with. either on a mighty armoured horse or on their own two feet, these men can easily hack down anyone foolish enough to stand in their way.
Awesome Temple to Jupiter? (I don't like this unit)
Khergit Battle Assassin: with these men comes death and sickness. even their employers can be afraid to deal with these men. the trained users of the khergit poison, they are able to kill on the battlefield or off. underneath their black robes is light yet durable chain mail, with soft leather around it to keep the links from making noise as they approach their victims. their weapon arsenal may include poisoned throwing knives, poisoned crossbow bolts and of course, their deadly poisoned sword. one hit is usually enough to kill a man in seconds. however, these men are hard to train and their armor is not always up to deflecting blows from an experienced fighter.
The idea of a 'battle' assassin is a bit contradicting and odd, but nice balancing and explaining.
Rhodok Deathbringer: this elite rhodok troop is a combination of a berzerker and an arcani. combining the huge strength and imperviousness to fear and pain of the berzerker with the armour of the arcani. wearing full plate, adorned with a great helm and weilding a huge two handed military scythe, these men are useful against cavalry and infantry alike. but nobody is invincible, and while armoured and trained well, they can succumb to the right amount of soldiers.
W00t, Lord of the Rings: Battle For Middle Earth, II has those. I wonder why a 'civilised' nation would name his units like that, but they prolly look cool in-game...
Nord Jarl: the Nord Jarl is one of the greatest swordsmen in all of Calradia. wearing mail armor and using the classic Nordic sword this soldier elite can kill most other infantry with ease. best deployed as shock troops or reserves. while great against infantry, caavalry can sometimes build up enough speed to puncture through the chain mail.
A Jarl... That was a raiding party leader... Right? I would call this unit 'Weaponthane' or something. Save Jarl for a noble cavalry unit.

Though I do not really like the fantasy and name theft of those names, I will certainly try them out!  When it works that is.

personally I hate the arcani too. I just couldn't think of anything better. "black knight" is, well, not in it for obvious reasons. the khergit battle assassin, while I love the unit, I first thought of "Black Tongsman" or something similar, but many people would probably not know what it was and, in my opinion, doesn't sound great. and the deathbringer... similar to the arcani for writer's block and name stealing. I had originally given them one handed military scythes renamed "soulreapers" but then took it out as it caused a bunch of errors.

and finally, the jarl. I NEEDED to have a jarl unit for the nords. but I don't want the Nords to have heavy cavalry, but I think the Nords do need some better cavalry, so perhaps I'll slap some of 'em on horses. now, it seems that the mod not working at all is a recurring problem, so I must have screwed up the download somehow. if you know what I could do to fix this, please tell me.

okay, sorry for the double post, but I'd like you all to look at the first post and read the stuff in between the lines.

awaiting 1.0!

some screenies of my next release tomorrow:

and earlier, I said that the game crashing was gone... well, it came back a couple hours later. but the crashing isn't half as bad as it used to be. here's some advice on how to help prevent crashes:
when starting a new game, spam the button that brings up the start menu. not sure if every keyboard has this thing, but on a PC it has the microsoft logo and it's in between the Ctrl and Alt buttons on the left hand side.
go slow for the first ten or fifteen minutes. after that it should run smoothly.
save often
use okay to low graphics. make sure you have your system running at more than 30%
smaller battles. I hate this one. keep your battlesize below 150. (depending on your computor I suppose)
no truesight cheat. usually I cheat to test out items/troops in my mod, and I found that truesight (Ctrl+T) is pretty much an automatic crash. using truesight is usually okay as long as you're not moving, but it's best not to use it at all.
crashing varies. sometimes the game will run perfectly fine with no crashing whatsoever, but sometimes it crashes more than anything I've ever seen. hopefully I'll have this worked out soon, but it may not go away.

well, this game, while laggy and crashes at every turn, is still addictively fun. you will see more than forty new troops, thirty some new weapons, and all manner of great things in this mod. the faction troops may still be a little unbalanced, but hopefully I'll have that fixed by the third (and final) release. see you tomorrow!

actually I'm already awake  I was just doing some early morning rebalancing. and just for kicks I set the blood multiplier up to 30.0. I'll also change the main image and then I'll put it up for download.

alright, according to the three other people who voted, this mod seems to be wroking. so what do these three people think of my mod :?:

alright, here's some screenies of my new mercenaries.

not all of it. chances are, it still won't work for you. but you never know. I'll be posting the source codes up when I'm done v1.0, so you may have to wait until then. sorry.
