Calling campaigns

Now that I've been elected Marshall I see I have an option to "Call a campaign" when talking to a fellow faction lord.  the dialog seems to suggest that other lords will converge on this location, and then I will be able to lead them against the enemy.  But I am not seeing anything happen when I do this.  I can give them Follow Me orders individually, and that seems to work OK, but has anyone seen the "call a campaign" function actually work?

Just wait for some days and a few lords will come to you and follow. Use space+ctrl to speed up time.

It works. I tried it in the middle of a rebellion. I fought against Nords with Lethwin Far-Seeker at my side, making me a commander or something. I tried to call a campaign (just for a test, nothing serious). I noticed that once you move near a lord they will join your campaign. They won't come by themselves. I also besieged Suno. While i was besieging, rest of the lords came.

What really should happen is that they should rally once you order them to. Not when you move near them or besiege a location.

Aside form that, campagins are one of the most powerful war parties in game

Yea the dialog suggests that they all rally to your current location. It seems to work some of the time but in the middle of campaign I usually have a couple of lords ditch and then I have to go get them and have them follow me.

I find that calling campaigns too often will result in fewer lords coming, and them leaving on their own very early. Kinda sucks when you are trying to take over the world

The best way seems to be to run around, hunt them down, and ask them each to follow you. Definitely a lot easier to capture cities if you have a few hundred extra meat shields to hand, and as you are the one initiating the sieges you can get to choose where you keep.

Yeah I have seen it work now.  I think sometimes lord can't/won't come, depending on their location and circumstances, and it can take a while for them to show up anyway.  Sometimes they will not even follow you if you ask directly, they say "I'm afraid that is impossible".  This might suggest they do in fact have some kind of limit (like food) to how long they stay in the field.  Also maybe they are restocking troops, I noticed the kings troop numbers steadily climb after he was captured and released while he was hanging around in his town.

Further to this, it seems lords get free garrisons automatically.  I have been trading Sungetche castle back and forth between Khergits and Vaegirs, and most recently hung around till it got assigned to someone in case they took it back too quickly; and as soon as a flag appeared on it, it suddenly had a 26-strong garrison.

That's why you need to raid villages. A lord without a fief won't get any new troops on his own. Either an another lord will give him or he will recruit from another village that hasn't been recruited yet.

If you don't want to "herd" them all the way to the location on the map that you want to attack, you can tell them
to raid around "the name of the NME village closest to the castle/city you want to siege". They will eventually
show up then you can give them the old "follow me" command and you attack where you want then.

Saves you a lot of time and you can do other things on the way without worrying about herding their
slow asses the whole way!
