Calling all multiplayer map makers--the need for a single community mappack

I guess this would invalidate my mod, which focuses mostly on maps only. It's a good suggestion though, and I'll think about it!

Kudos.

I'll make available all the maps we've got so far into the "Unnamed mod".

AFAIK there's no problem with the map list. If anyone know how to mod module_presentations all the list might expand sideways and not need a scroll.

I think it still needs to be changed to a scrollable object because there is no overlay that works like that, unless Taleworlds changes the overlay code to expand sideways when there are more items in the list that can be fitted on the screen.

It would probably be easiest to change it to a button that displays the same map selection box that for example map polls display. There's already code for that in the module system.

Okay.

Could we have the atlasnovus mod implemented as well?

The throwing warspear and victory chanting are very cool, as well as more diversified troop types

If there are no objections, I could take maps submitted by others and add them to Atlas Novus, making AN the community map pack (which kind of was the plan for 1.0 version of the mod anyway). But since AN has some other new features in addition to new maps, they would have to be either removed or ok'd by the community first.

It works and it doesn't.  The community map pack would need to end up being a mod itself.  Maybe if the community map pack was more available as a service to existing modders so that they can include maps that are already made.
Otherwise it's just gonna end up being native/open map pack/other mods.

And yes there is the problem of the map list becoming larger than the display.

I would like to see it as a pure multiplayer community Map Pack, no gameplay changes.
Also, someone should moderate the maps, so they would fit the feeling of the official ones.

We need to advertise it much, maybe we will draw the developers attention
Imagine the pack added to a future patch

Dont you think the default 3 troop types is too little? We can have more troop types as the mod grows

NO. The map pack should stay as a map pack. This way it has chances of being implemented in one of the patches and it will get no "NAY"s from the community. You can hate the maps, but you can't hate the initiative to add more of them. When you change the gameplay, there will always be people opposing it.

There is a rumor that the devs are working on some kind of autodowload for custom maps on servers.

but dont quote me on it ...

I will for now on count on you on it, and will ask you about it every time I see your post.

T'is true.

Or so the 22nd rumour  says...

You have my map (-s in the future)!

About changes:
NO to any gameplay changes (troops, weapons, ect) Eventually fix to longbow which is too slow  (IMO bug)
YES to some pure aesthetics changes (like victory cheers, fog, weather, time of the day, ect.)

No to longbow "fix" for me.
Fog, time and weather will hinder your ability to shoot longer distances. Nay from me. Cheering is not a NO, but I would still rather see only the new maps.
