Calculation of loot

First off: Yes, I performed a search for this  but didn't find the answer I was looking for

The question I have is: How is the amount of loot calculated? Let me explain the reason for this question.

Yesterday, I came across this huge dark rider army with about 60 men. I had my mighty great axe and some 20 footsoldiers with pikes. So I thought I might give it a try and attacked. Of course, we were beaten rather completely but at least I was able to kill the dark rider general and several knights (my axe rules  ). So after I came to and couldn't find any living member of my party I returned to the nearest city and hired some more footsoldiers (vaegir footmen) and went on the trail of that army. Rinse, repeat. I kept doing this routine for like three times and I had the number of the dark army seriously lowered. So I chased them for what I thought was the last fight. Unfortunately they came across a large group of refugees and attacked them before I could intervene. So I joined the fight and the dark riders were defeated. Needless to say that most of the kills went to my scoreboard since the refugees were much too busy bleeding and losing limbs.
Then, after the fight, the game took me to the loot window and I started rubbing my hands together in expectation of what kind of loot I might get. Well ... the loot consisted of one (1!) war shield (600/600, 2000gold) and nothing more.

I defeated a whole army, lost like 70 men and that's my reward.

Yeah, so my question is still: How is the amount of loot generated? Is it by the kind of enemy I defeat? Or by the amount of enemies I face in one battle? Is it influenced by the fact whether I join a battle or not? What?

Thanks for reading and possible answers.

If you capture a dragonship you will be rich beyond your wildest dreams. If you play this game long enough you won't have anything to buy anymore because you will have hundreds of thousands of coin.

It was answered rather concisely somewhere else...

Ok: you get 10 shares of loot, marnid and borcha both get 7 shares of loot and all other troops get 1 share of loot.

So if you have a party consisting of marnid, borcha and 20 other soldiers, there will be 10+7+7+20=44 shares total, of which, you'll get 10.

(so basically you get 10/44 of the loot)

Also, the amount of loot (seems to be) determined by how large the party is. This isn't how large the party was when it first spawned, but how large it is before you defeated it in battle. If you battle a war party, for instance, the fight will consist of 3 or 4 battles, between which you can retreat if you want. It's been my experience that if you do retreat and come back, the war party will be considered smaller and will give off less loot. If there were five dark knights in your case, then the amount of loot would be sparse indeed.

AH! That makes a whole lot of sense now. So basically, there wasn't that much loot because a) I'd decimated the war party and b) the refugees "assisted" me in defeating the remaining and c) most of the loot lay on the other battlefields and my colleagues were too drowsy in the head to collect it

Thanks a bunch. And no, I wasn't able to find this answer through searching.

I hate it when you save the useless hides of some refugees by singlehandedly killing a whole dark knight army, only to have them run off with all the loot leaving you with some bent bolts. I don't know why, but I only ever get bent bolts.

Hmm, suddenly they work for me as well.

You box-modelled that? And what's "Wings 3D"? Never heard of it before.

yeah, the sail, shields, oars and little drum stand thing are different parts but the rest was out of a box

Took me 10 mins doing other things.

Wings 3d is a little freeware 3d modelling program i use as well as max. its heaps better than any other program i have used. Its easy to pick up and very powerful once mastered.

www.wings3d.com

I added an atual dragon head to the frount, its not brilliant, i rushed it a bit/ Maybe i will get another screen up.

Hmm.. funny how the subject changes from loot calculation, to a 3d-modelling program discussion..

Funny, how we changed this from a discussion on something that is a part of Mount & Blade, so something else that is completly off-topic.

We have broken the barrier between the two lands of Taleworlds.com Forums.

I am all in favour, of turning everyone into our slaves.

Ok i donno what im talking about here, but that calculation i read on this post doesnt seem right. I just beat down an army of 54 dark riders, and like 40 of those were KNIGHTS.. i mean the wave of black armour and nightmare horses was freaky.

I was careful to try and save horses, kinda seeing if it worked, i mounted a few nightmares during the battles and always tried to keep them alive to raise my chances of getting one (i guess)

so i expected ot get a bunch of crappy loot, but maybe.... some decent armor, all i got was a cracked shield and a crappy sword!!!

what is with that, my army consisted of only 4 other heroes and a unconcious cataract dude.
where is all the loot!!!

thanks

There is a number in the data files for each party that seems to affect the amount of loot, and DKs have a particularly low number.
