Actually goodbye topics are fine, they never stay up long and if its a member of the community who played the mod for awhile i think its completely acceptable, he is not seeking attention just informing anyone who did notice he was not playing that he plans not to play for quite some time. How about you stop seeking attention and stop not try and troll the next goodbye topic?

Firstly, you didn't give an opinion. You're just trolling.

Thirdly, interesting issues don't often get pushed back to other pages.
Fourthly Making one thread would mean there's a leaving thread permanently up on the top page, filled with idiots like you, who think they're clever by posting nonsensical garbage, defeating the point of efficiency by ensuring that there's always a topic like this hanging around.

Personally I don't object to leaving threads as long as it's someone who has been around for a decent amount of time, or has had some impact to the community.
