Buying from GamersGate--install possible on machine with no internet?

After putting a few characters through the demo, i felt M&B grip me with the steely claw of game addiction (despite all the ways it could be better). But there's one problem; the machine i use to access the internet and my personal computer, which is the only one on which i can actually play games, are not the same. Or even in the same building. I don't have a credit card either, but i can always get friends to pay online and then reimburse them in cash, so that's not a problem; but, i doubt your average european credit card accepts debit in US $ (am i wrong? I really know next to nothing concerning credit cards). So that means buying from Paradox Gamer's Gate, which requires an internet connection to install and activate its games. Also, it's more expensive because they're using the dollar's status as a devaluated worthless currency to make a profit on the exchange rate, but that's of less concern than the fact that they require you use their own downloaders and installers. Actually, i've just thought of this; if I buy the game from them, will they still give me the serial key without downloading from them, and it will it still be usable offline?

Welcome to the forum, Cirdan.

Truthfully, I'm unsure how Paradox Gamer's Gate handles installation as I wasn't aware they were selling M&B.

There is a manual activation method that has solved the same problem you seem to be having for quite a few members in the past.  I'll look for the thread once I've finished checking all the new posts.

Sorry I'm not full of helpful answers, but I've been away for quite some time and haven't 'got back in the swing of things' quite yet.  Maybe someone else with more recent knowledge could help you?

Hi Cirdan, glad that you enjoyed the game. As to your questions :

Info about manual activation can be found here :

Apparently, Gamer's Gate places the serial key in the downloader, in a section named MyGames I suppose. The key they provide will be useable for manual activation.

As to currencies, paying with European currencies wouldn't be a problem. Our e-business partner Esellerate (.net) handles many currencies.

And welcome back Narcissus , I think you are doing great and just being humble.

Best,
Ipek

Just to confirm, with games requiring a serial key such as M&B, Gamer's Gate stores the serial in your online account. You don't actually need to install or download anything from Gamer's Gate in this instance - simply go to the website, log in and then click the "My Game's" link. The serial is displayed next to the game name. As pointed out, you can use the serial to perform a manual activation on the offline machine.

Currency depends on the issuing bank. Most European cards will happily allow you to pay with dollars, some will add a conversion charge while other's won't.
