Buy a decent mouse.

Since everything is coupled to the mouse in this game, your mouse is pretty crucial unfortunately.  At least in my experience.

I had a crappy TrendMicro mouse and it wouldn't register half my movements and those it did were more often than not not what I wanted to do.  So I bit the bullet and spent a whole $20 on a new mouse (big spender, I know).

But it's a Logitech LS1 laser mouse and is leaps better than the TrendMicro mouse.  My manual block movements actually sometimes register now, and I more often than not attack in the direction I wanted to now.  It's quite lovely.  I think part of the residual misinterpretations are due to my mouse pad and the angle I hold the mouse at.  Also this mouse has a frustrating tendency to register every left swing as an overhand swing.  I have to greatly exaggerate my left swing movement to get it to register that method.

But for $18 at Wal-Mart, it's not a bad purchase, and helps out tremendously.  So if you have similar problems, you might consider it.  At least until they decouple everything from the mouse (one can only hope...).

This is true, getting a more sensitive mouse or just turning up your current mouses sensitivity helps greatly.

You know what the ****ty thing is about this thread..I'll tell you. I spent $140 US on a mouse I bought from europe - http://www.roccat.org/Products/Gaming-Mice/ROCCAT-Kone/

I had used it for about two months and then one day out of the blue while pressing down the middle mouse button it broke it and now I don't use it anymore and just use my logitech g5. I'm still to lazy to rma back to europe, I probably should since it was actually a very good mouse until that happened.

You are right, and not only in MnB.

For many games and for using computer in general (desktop, internet) a good, precise mouse is very helpfull.
People often make the mistake of cutting costs on a mouse, when they forget that a little bit more CPU power is rearly used while the mouse is held 100% of their computer time.
Also, from my experience it is very important that it fits well into your hand and is somewhat heavy, to provide resistance. (but others might prefer different)

I have invest a sum of money a long time ago in a Logitech MX 500 mouse, and have been using it for years now. Works perfectly and is  maybe one of the best spent $$$ on my hardware. I changed several CPU/graphic cards/RAM in the mean time, but the mouse is still serving me fine.

Oh yeah, to add: in my opinion, there is no need to buy the most expensive ones. Just get a solid mouse for a decent price, as long as you feel good with it in hand and its not one of the cheapest fellas.

I've got this baby, $80 but I won it in a contest so it was free
After the PC itself, out of all hardware, I've probably spend most money on mice. I cant enjoy gaming without a good mouse.

I'm using some random brand, that cost £6. And it works fine.

i got razor deatth adder, trust me ive bought ALOT of mouses, deathadder is the best mouse ever made!

gods blessing <3

You spent more on your mouse then on your monitor  :?:

My monitor was something like $150 I think, and the total value of all mice I currently have is about the same.

A good mouse is well worth it in any FPS/game. Perhaps, even more so in M&B where the mouse is used for so much.

Laptop touchpad works fine for me, i have built up many years of experience.

I have a Razer Diamondback, excellent mouse, and I remember the transition to it made me so much more responsive and accurate when gaming. I highly recommend to any serious gamer that they get a good mouse, it enhances your abilities and experience so much more than people think.

Used an antique G5 until the cord broke. Now I have a G9, albeit second-hand.

It really does make a difference when compared to regular (read: ****e) mice.

My mouse came free with my (very, very cheap) keyboard.

And has served me well for about 5 years.

After reading this I'm thinking I should buy a new one...

I've never uesd a "proper" mouse so I wouldn't mind seeing the difference.

Hey dont forget the mousepad, its also crucial... Make your mouse happy or it'll run away from you. . More to the point, My mouse came with the computer (gateway) and it works fine, dont know why you need a gaming mouse. This one cheap-o mouse is awesome for CS, MnB, and whatever game you can propose. Thank you very much.

EDIT: Laser Mouse FTW, Ball Mouses are so 20th century.

I'd go for the Logitech G5 or the MX518. Those are cheaper than the newest generation, but they're still far more than adequate.

Yep, G5 seems to the best way to go now days, affordable and great for gaming.

The reason people buy new mice is that they have more comfortable design (some of them anyway), added buttons, for example the G5 mouse has 2 side buttons which help me in other games, it also has a tilting left and right scroll wheel which isn't really that important but you can use those tilts as functions in games if set up right.
The grip of the mouse is nice, it also has 3 different speed settings on the mouse, a slow, normal and fast speed setting, usually you use normal for general computer usage and fast for gaming if you really want to without changing in game mouse sensitivity.

And most importantly is how many DPI the mouse can move at.
Cheaper mice have a low DPI, which means that in games like CS, youre aiming is less precise, and if you moved your mouse reeeeeally really slowly, you'll notice that it moves along a kindof grid, it doesn't move super super smoothly, even if you think it does, it doesn't.
You would most notice this in games that require some sortof distance shooting where every little inch of movement counts.

Overall you'll just find that a mouse like the G5 is much better than a crappy $10 mouse and you'll enjoy using it more due to the added functionality, the comfortable design (i'm a right hander but play pretty much all games except RTS games with my left hand on the mouse and it's still comfortable even though the mouse is a right handed mouse), and the larger DPI creating smoother mouse movement in general.

I also almost forgot to mention that the G5 has weights that you can customize your mouse with.
It has a little weight tray and a little container with a set of different weights in it so if you want a light mouse, you dont have to put weights in, but if you want a heavier mouse, you fill the mouse with the heaviest weights and you'll get what you're after.
