So I own a carpenter and clothier business, and so far I haven't received any income from it. Also its been more than two weeks that I last bought it. is there something im missing? i thought u just buy it and it generates income eventually and as many people say its really broken with huge income, i seem to have the opposite effect.

What cities did you put them in? Is it somewhere that has flax in a nearby village/hardwood?

Try to find out which raw resource the city recieves a lot, then change what is being produced.

I don't have my game up and running and won't be able to get to it for a few hours. Do those have the appropriate nearby villages? You want to place a clothier in a city that has a nearby flax village and a hardwood village near the carpenter.

so i originally thought that the business usually depends on the raw resources from the nearby villages, but when i saw a youtuber playing, he was showing off his business in zeonica and i checked that the nearby villages did not have any carpenter at all and yet he made 10k+.

Your original thought was correct. They have patched it now after it was bugged, so hopefully you can follow your original thought.
I also made 10k every day, but not anymore.

I have yet to find a profitable place for a carpentry shop. Even if there is massive wood available cheap, the profits are too skimpy to make it worth while. I've been having the same problem with wool weaveries. Olive oil presses make some money, but like a third of what the best enterprises make, even with massive amounts of cheap olives.

Pottery shops and breweries can make bank if placed in appropriate cities and some smitties work as well. I have simply had very little luck with the rest of the enterprises.

I have had shops take several weeks to give income and find that 300 denars a day is the most I can get. Average income being less around 175/180 denars. I usually use caravans first as they cost the same, generate higher income and seem to only take a few days to start showing profits.

My average is 300-400 denars a day. Breweries are the best imo. If a business was making less than 200 then I would either change production or sell it. Just work out what basic resource is selling the cheapest and which finished good is selling the highest. If grain is cheap and abundant but beer is cheap then don't build a brewery. Leather is another good one I find.

Usually, I just set up around 3-4 workshops, and 2 caravans, and don't ever look at them again, unless my caravans get destroyed.
Still, it's enough to have you swim in cash, and the wages are rarely a heavy financial issue.

Of course, by usually, I mean in my 2 playthroughs in which I have yet to get married, or reach really late late game.

Get my mod here and it will tell you why its failing to produce a profit.
