Well, I expected Awdev to be *****ing about this on, just to be contrary.

Oh I do apologise if I don't rally behind your flag of "let's beat up dumb people". It's just not feasible, you'd be busy for the rest of your life.

She was asking for it, and I dislike the whole 'You can't punch a girl' thing. Like the driver said, "You wanna be a man? I'll treat you like a man."

Saying that though, she took that punch like a champ!

A single strike to subdue someone who has just been violent towards you is self defense.
It's not self-defence unless the force used is necessary to stop or prevent an assault. It's not self-defence once the danger has passed, or if unnecessary force is used to remove the danger.

She had already shown that she was willing to resort to violence. Who are you to say she wouldn't have kept at it if the bus driver hadn't retaliated? The danger wouldn't have passed until she left the bus or returned to her seat. The bus driver decided she wasn't going to return to her seat, so he removed her from the bus. She immediately came back on to continue the conflict.

Also, stop beating the dead horse about "unnecessary force." There was no unnecessary force, we already established that. It was a single strike (as retaliation against her initial shove), after which he removed her from the bus. She came back on the bus and attempted to re-initiate the conflict, but was restrained by other passengers. She clearly had the intention of continuing with violence, but the bus driver didn't retaliate further.

Hell, you might get worse treatment if you're causing trouble in a bar or club. Bouncers are big buff bastards for a reason.

People who voluntarily want to grow a brain should be left alone, but the other part of the dumb people should die in a fiery pit.

Silly world.

Growing a brain can be bit of a challenge though... Maybe they'll learn.

Said based on the article in the local paper that I read. You have the internet - use it.

Now imagine if everyone in the bus had carried a handgun like gun nuts want. The girl would have pulled hers and tried to shoot the driver, as enraged as she was. Maybe she would have missed or maybe the driver would have been quicker and short her in retaliation. Perhaps one of the passengers would have joined in. Instead of a bruised ego and a little nosebleed, we'd have at least one corpse, possible more.

"Oh but Jhess, if people all packed heat, society would be much more polite, the argument wouldn't have started in the first place!" Yeah right, did it look like anyone was stopping to calm down and think things through logically? No way.

Considering the neighborhood that bus seemed to be in, I'm sure more than one person was armed. Anyway I somehow doubt it'd become a giant shooting spree, lady might've died but that's hardly a loss.

Because people who start **** never carry a gun with them, despite what the law says, right?

THANK you. That was bugging me fierce.

SO yeah, basically? That woman was being a total *****, endangering lives. The bus driver TRIED to get her off the bus, but she voluntarily got back on to keep raising **** before he could shut her out. She's a self-entitled dumbass, and deserves some special hurt. I'm on the bus driver's side.

Ditto.

This story would have been much more interesting if he had in fact managed to produce a hadouken.

Because that surely was my point, right?

No, the NRA argument goes something like this:
#1 Everyone is armed
#2 Because everyone is armed, society turns into a magical, utopian polite one because no-one dares to start any ****.
#3 ???

Whether you think that the woman in question here - bear in mind that we only have a very fragmentary clip of events from a ****ty phone cam - deserves death or not, you seriously wouldn't think that heated arguments like this, that are fairly common occurrence in any urban centre, might escalate much more dangerously if everyone was, indeed, packing?

Explain to me how an incident with zero weapons involved became a ****ing debate about possession of arms.

I want to blame Jhessail, but I'm going to be open-minded, because I think it's a holiday or something.

Jhessail made a legit observation, IMO. Things would've ended on a messier note if the lady was packing a gun. There's nothing complicated about it.

To be honest I just don't see the logic behind every citizen owning a gun. Fact is it's pretty much uncontrolled. You might argue that having a gun allows you to defend yourself, but that same free flow of firearms provides your attackers with the same amount of firepower; why do people think criminals can so easily get possession of firearms in the first place? Maybe it's the high demand and distribution within the country? If you really wanted to protect yourself and your loved ones, get rid of guns entirely and limit them to military and law enforcement only.

Also, I believe all transport-related personnel eg. bus drivers, pilots, stewardesses, etc. should be equipped with martial arts training so that they can deliver some righteous justice to these troublemakers. When many lives are at risk, you just don't let that kinda **** go.

Entirely bull****, criminals get guns no matter what the law is at the time.
