People don't tend to push and punch me. If they did, I'd stop them if possible and then stay away from those people.

While "understandable" and "appropriate" are different things entirely, I agree with Mage on this one. He didn't continue his attack, he directly addressed the threat to his personal safety and the safety of those on board (who are all his responsibility while he is driving). A single strike to subdue someone who has just been violent towards you is self defense.
