Someone brought this up as a tactic in a recent discussion.
... tried doing that in the arena when it's down to the archer and you?
jumping seems to slow me down and puts my target painted scalp in line with the arrows that might otherwise fly overhead.
Even worse when you are wield a two-handed sword or a lance and there's half a field between you. Even if you eventually close that distance - most of the time i don't - if i do i look like a target dummy robin hood's been using, or my shield is shattered.
And when I am in his face, somehow the archer is able to loose off arrows at point blank while i swing at him. Probably a champion with a good athletics score 'cause he's running circles around me.
Of course, some how these scenarios only happen when i finally decide to bet 200 denairs on myself... the crook of a tournament master pairs me up with an archer who shoots me instead while trying to hit the archer I have trying to hack; and ignores the charging knight who promptly lances his boils...
