[BUG] [URGENT] Archers don't shoot enemies they can clearly see, ruins game

Bug Description: Title explains it pretty well. I'll have a stack of archers on a hill that can clearly see the enemy right in front of them and refuse to shoot them. There's no one in their way. My infantry will be below them but not in the way. It makes literally no sense. I'd hold their fire and then fire at will to see if it fixes it and sometimes it does, but most of the time it doesn't. Archers are rendered completely useless by this bug.
How To Reproduce The Bug: Play the game with archers.
How Often The Bug Occurs: 75% of the time
Save Playtime(How long you've played that save/What day you're on): I'm at 245 days, but I encountered this bug as soon as I had a fair amount of archers.

Want to update, the bug now occurs 100% of the time within my save game. Every battle the archers refuse to shoot until they're up in their face. It got all of my infantry killed. This is a pretty urgent bug that needs to be addressed.

Does that happen with all battles or only night time ones? Because my archers also hold fire until last moment during night time battles, and I thought it was a feature.

I have noticed it does occur more during the night, but it's very frequent in day time battles as well. Even if it is a feature, if I can see them, so can they, they should be able to shoot. It's completely ruined the game for me atm. But that is a very good observation.

It appears that archers are extremely finicky in terms of line-of-sight. Night has a huge effect, basically blinding them. During the day, if there's even so much as a tiny anthill in between them and the enemy, it blocks sight for the entire group of archers.

It also appears that if even one archer can't see the enemy, nobody shoots. When they are put into loose formation, they bug out less often, probably because otherwise one archer might have his vision blocked by another, causing them all to be "blinded" and bug out.

This is exactly what I suspected. They have 1 "Group vision" aspect instead of an individual line of sight. Cause from what I've observed it appears to be that way. Also my forums bugged out and now you're the owner of the post apparently lmao

I hope they fix this, because it really is game-breaking, especially because it only seems to affect your own troops, while enemy AI archers are super OP aimbots.

Yeah it's incredibly game-breaking, I hope more people see this post and are having the same problem, so the developers will address it quickly. They got a patch out today resolving a ton of crashes, hopefully they're just as consistent with bugs like this.

I'm very annoyed by this one as well, thus my army is now 2/3 melee and 1/3 being ranged units in the hopes that one day they actually use their weapon.

Yeah I'm prioritizing Infantry now because my Archers are completely useless now.

Can agree that this is annoying and possibly bugged. Weather also seems to impact the players ranged troops.
Loose formation or toggling holding fire seems to somewhat help but is unclear for sure

Yes I’ve noticed that loose formation helps combat the problem, but sometimes it doesn’t do jack. To top it all off my game save got corrupted so I lost 22 hours of progress

Same here. Mine bugged out the most at nighttime. Ranged units are basically blind at night (even at dusk or dawn). Archers and crossbowmen just stand there if targets are more than 20 steps away. At first I suspected it was an overkilling feature to make the environment matters. Then I found this post.

Damn, the troops should learn how to up their gamma value.?
