[bug] Strange error messages after downloading Warband (Cannot install)

So I downloaded Warband after getting a confirmation email, it took about half an hour (I was so excited after it finished) and I received Error message #1 (at bottom of post) which said something about how I don't have permission to open the file.

So I searched around the beta forums to find solutions, I literally deleted my entire AVG folder, then I found some advise about downloading from internet explorer, so I did, then I received an even weirder message (message #2) from internet explorer.

Now I'm trying one more time on firefox...

Someone please help me... They need Canadian testers like me out there!

Alright, if you have AVG, here is what you do:


Uninstall it. We've found that AVG messes up A LOT of installations, don't feel bad, I had the same problem.

I deleted my entire AVG folder before downloading it a second and a third time, same error. I don't think it's AVG anymore.

You might want to add that you have to be logged on as the Admin of your computer to install properly... That's what worked for me.

I just got the second error message you posted tonight, and I'm furious! I've tried downloading it for an hour now, both saving to desktop and just opening, and I always get that error message at 99%! I havn't even gotten to install it because it wont even go on my computer! I do have an old dead version of AVG, I'll try uninstalling it and seeing if it works but it seems like it doesn't judging by your post. I'll come back and let you guys know if it worked or not. This is the most annoying thing I've ever encountered in a download!

Running AVG here too. I'm getting a "Threat detected!"-message as soon as i start to download it. I get 3 options: Heal, Move to Vault and Ignore.
Well, of course I press the Ignore-button.
3 seconds after I'm done downloading I get this message:

"Accessed file is infected

I press ignore AGAIN and i try to run the installer.
Nothing happens. Nada. Not even an error message pops up. Can't I control myself which files should be ignored by AVG?

The installer IS there, ON the desktop but nothing happens. What the hell? Has anyone experienced this?
Well, I'm going to try and uninstall this pos called AVG. Hope that helps...

After uninstalling AVG and trying again it worked and installed just fine! I wish I'd have saw this hours ago when I had time to play, now I have it installed and don't have any time to play it tonight >_<. But yeah thanks alot it helped! If I come across any other problems that pop up while trying to run the game if I do I'll let you know here too incase it's something still caused by after-effects of that!

Just got a confirmation mail - Hurrah!
But how eager I may be for starting to play I'd like to avoid problems with the installation etc. therefore:

- Should the email come from "[email protected]" ?
- Are there problems with certain browsers?
- Sorry, but what the hell is AVG?

Would be great if you had some tipps for I like to make sure that everything works and I don't mess things up.
