Ok, im on vista, but i have UAC turned off... cant save the .exe file to the computer after downloading it.
However, i do have AVG, and i read you had some problems (couldnt find what problems you had with it, but this might be one of them i guess).
anyway... it said i wasnt authorised to do that action (save it after download)

gonna try again by opening it instead of saving it. well see how that pans out.

Where are you trying to save it to? Desktop? Could be permissions issue.

Could try turning off AVG and seeing if it lets you save. At least then you've noticed the problem.

well... turned off avg... still got the avg warning when downloade
aaaand i picked "open" instead of "save" this time, and now nothing happens at all... it just brought the file to the computer, but didnt open it and the download window just dissapeared... gonna check around on the computer to see if the file is there or not, but so far its very troublesome...

of course, the obvious sollution to this would be to supply a .zip, .rar or .ace file for us avg users (or vista if its that)

You could always use a decent antivirus

Definitely sounds like AVG. You'd need to clean boot to knock it out, and even then it tends to decide for itself whether or not to kick in. Not sure if you can kill the resident shield and download it while it's down, then tell it to ignore the file in future.

naah its not avg...
turned off avg completely and it still didnt let me save the file...
its windows vista... just sais i dont have the authority to save the file in that folder (should be noted it is the same folder i saved my mount and blade setup exe in)
dammit vista! respect my authoratah!

People with vista have had no problem. And I have 7 and also had no such issues. It is most likely AVG. You must also completely disable resident shield as well. I would just suggest getting rid of the thing completely as Arch said and get a good anti-virus

Right click and "Save File As" fixes some problems caused by AVG fecking the install file. Try that, worked for me.

Also, make an exception in the Resident Shield options for files in that folder.

nope that did nothing... but i dont think its avg...
could someone in charge please upload a .zip version?

yeah, ok so i guess i wont be betatesting then...

If you are so scared of viruses (which is unlikely since you use AVG) to not uninstall avg just to try it. Then nope. guess not. cya in ~ 6 months.
