For some reason, the FPS drops to around 5-10 when i have the new guys (from "happy boars" tavern) in a battle.

This happens very random though, some times the game would run fine and other times the fps drops very low that it is impossible to play and does not rise unless u restart the game (if u play in a "realistic" mode where u cant save unless u quit, this becomes a major problem). Like i said, this happens when the new characters are in a battle whether it is just in an arena in zendar or real battles.

Can u please help me n00854180t? I NEVER had this problem when playing without these mods but i would REALLY appreciate if u fix this issue as i have already lost battles due to having to quit in the middle of them and restart the game.

Thanks.

Well, I dont see why it would be new character involved, if the entries are read properly from troop.txt it plays, if not, it wont. There really isnt anything else complicated to it.

Ive wondered myself if the introduction of new textures takes up more memory *all* through the game or if its just an issue with loading at the beginning. Ive had moments where I thought my FPS was dragging more than usual as well. I would have to go back and play a pure vanilla game with no mods to get a better feel.

The mag-7 end has possibilities too as ive used maybe 10 new variables. I think ive figured out where a few free variables are based on old posts of armagans but you never know. I could be taking over some kind of graphics optimization variables. This seems very unlikely to me as its more likely this would just induce a crash if I took over something elses variables (especially 10 of them). I started my new variables up around 490 and up. I think I read there are only 512 available atm which will increase in a later M&B.

Only Noo8 can possibly answer that texture issue(among modders) and only Armagan could give the definitive answer to both possibilities.

Other possibilities are background programs you may be running and the other usual suspects. Oh, and just for curiosities sake, which version of mag-7 are you playing with?

The only thing I can think of is, new textures and especially new models. One problem with the current method of rsf editing is that I have to duplicate the entire entry, including the model data, even though I'm just changing the textures. So that could be it. Personally, I've not seen any real slow down. I seriously doubt that textures are *all* loaded all the time, but I could be wrong.

Now, if you normally only get 20 FPS with M&B and you install Hugemod and crank up a battle with all the stuff, I have no doubt it'd slow (not saying you do or don't normally run at 20 FPS, just an example). It's too hard to say what causes low FPS. It could be any number of things. To tell the truth though, I seriously doubt that the ~3MB worth of new texture data is doing it.

ok today, i will try playing with hugemod only and c how it goes. if a slow down occurs then it is no doubt an issue in hugemod. If on another hand everything goes smoothly then it is mag v7. I am using mag v7 which i have recently downloaded. Just in case, it is probably best to give me a link with the most recent version of mag v7 and c if the problem is due to using an older version of mag v7. O, and i run game at around 120fps or around 100fps and there is obviously an ENORMOUS difference between 5fps and 120fps .

o and i am still playing the demo which i have downloaded about 2 weeks ago lol. I really should buy the game . Is there a way to pay for the game using a savings card or do u have to have a visa card?

You also wont be able to play the current Mag-7 without hugemod. It will crash your computer when it goes looking for the textures you need. If you stay away from recruiting bandits or attacking dark riders and khergit, you may avoid a crash but I dont know. If you test berserkers without hugemod, dont go into the zendar inn or it will crash as it needs a hugemod hair color.

So just play with hugemod only. Then you can make some guesses.

Also, by version I meant which NPC group (steppe, berserker, knights). Its not mag v7. Its "The Magnificent Seven v.14".

You should try playing vanilla M&B again first, to see if you're getting slowdowns. I have extreme doubts that the combined 6 or so MB of texture and model data would cause you that much a performance hit.

That makes the most sense.

If there is no slowdown then start applying one or the other alone.

The slowdowns in my experience are subtle things, Ive never seen it drop from 120 to 10 unless im being stampeded by a cavalry wave and thats in all versions. My computer sucks though.

Yeah, from what I've seen, most slowdowns from adding new stuff are 1) at the beginning, when it loads through everything and checks all the files, 2) when it loads a save game, and 3) when it loads inventories with the new items. I get slowdowns with large battles with lots of horses, but that happened in regular M&B anyway. I have a pretty good computer too (it's old, 2 years, P4 2.6, 1GB of 2-2-2-4 KHX 400MHz, Radeon 9800XT 256MB, SB Audigy 2, WD SATA Raptors in RAID 0). I believe you Burn, but I'm *extremely* skeptical that a mere 6MB of extra data is causing 90+ frames of slowdown. It just doesn't work that way.
