Are you tired of that? So am I. I propose a buddy system. A peasant all by his lonesome has very little defense and is more often then not killed in one shot. But if two peasants are side by side, their chances of survival should increase quite a bit. 9 peasants in a box pattern, the guy in the middle is now a tank!

Basically if a troop has a friendly unit nearby, their defense increases, but only 8 times. So if a peasant is surrounded by 20 other peasants, he still only gets 8 defense bonuses for his 8 buddies surrounding him.

This can work in opposite too. If a troop is surrounded by 8 enemies, their defense recieves 8 penalties.

This might be too complex for the engine, but I gave it a shot.
 
Basically a morale system?  Atleast, that's what I got out of it.  Like, a large group feels comfortable, while a man by himself would cower and get cut down easier.
 
Seems like something that should belong in WoW or something, not M&B.  I don't think that would even fix the "problem" you're referring to here.  So it takes 8 hits instead of 1 to kill the first dozen or so peasants.  Doesn't change the fact that they can't put a scratch on you.

It would be opposite too. Someone's defense would decrease the more opponents that are on him. So if you're surrounded, your armor doesn't protect you as well as it should.
 
Great idea!

If they are nerfing stunlock then they need something like this to make my character fear being mobbed by a crowd.

The way I read it is that if you were mobbed by a group of 8 (or more) opponents, your defense (armor resistance) would be -8 (which is not actually that much of a handicap), while their defense (resistance) will be +8.

What this means is that a single peasant would not be able to dent your armor and stunlock would seldom effect you, but with stunlock at a threshold of 3 (what it is at by default in .660), then a group of 8 peasants would be more likely too inhibit your attacks and take a little less damage until you reduced their numbers.

This also translates too troops as well, meaning that you would be less likely to lose troops to a couple lucky attacks from a single enemy soldier charging into your ranks. And you would enjoy the benefit of a bonus to your resistance when you were with a group of your own men as well.

I, for one, would like to see this implemented.

I, for one, would like to see this implemented.

Then the AI needs to form ranks and keep those ranks while attacking to be effective. May the person holding ground (player) win.

I for one, would not. Stunlock isn't a problem if the threshold can't get over 5 for a l33t char (ironflesh/2). Mostly its just annoying to stun with 0 damage.
 
The AI needs work anyway, if they are charging in one at a time they are going to lose whether this is implemented or not  :roll:

This would mostly be a small handicap for players trying to solo large hordes as intended and it would make stunlock a little more of an issue when facing hordes of enemies than when facing 2 or 3.

**** no to this honestly if its what linehand said. So what? I get uber + to my defense then If I outnumber a army of ALL nord huscarls 10 to 1 with 200 recruits? At that the enemy already almost always outnumbers you at that! ATM the only thing that needs to be done is minor formation locking so your troops don't scatter about and neither do the enemies men, when they or you are charging

It makes more sense than the raw stunlock which can allow a single peasant to interrupt an armored knights attack. by upping the threshold and introducing these group bonuses we can have a group actually present a threat to a stronger individual.

Edit: no need to freak out and start swearing, its not as if that will make people care what you think  :wink:

1. but if its for every person, 20 recruits would both stunlock AND maul the huscarl.

2. Weren't you AGAINST my threshold topic of making it based off total HP? Yes raw stunlock needs to go, but this bonus would make khergits bleeding useless to especially when they are outnumbered. Deduct 8 from 26 and thats REAL damaging then. Leg armor would hit the negatives. Threshold needs to be upped based on HP and or level so that a archer will be a bit used to pain, but nowhere near used to the pain a huscarl is. This would mean only really good hits would stunlock a knight. But thing is... stunlock is ALL villagers have going for them (If you maniever this will rarely happen though)

3. Using **** in rare(er) instances is done to show the strength of ones resolve... To accentuate the phrase, word, or situation.
 
You don't make any sense whatsoever. Your logic is simply flawed on a fundamental level so debating anything with you is just pointless and can never go anywhere because you fail to grasp even the most simplistic concepts, much less grasp the further reaching implications.

It is a great idea, just because you can't get your little head around it doesn't change that.

Lol dude, your acting WAY childish. That was more obviously rehearsed then a 2 dollar movie.
You already whined in PMs saying I was out to get you, and I already explained it is not true. But hey, keep going, Makes me look that much smarter! HAHA!

What would be neat, is maybe a form of zelousy. (SP?) Maybe toss in some propgandic views done via persuasion that can either lower chance of stagger by a bit, or severly lower morale via failure.

Please, keep on topic and add to the debate.

What I would ALSO like to see, is tactics play a SMALL modifier of morale gained/loss during battles (High tactics make your men feel better about even your failed missions) In turn, morale should play into tactics. AND.... What are you doing in that armor still fighting villagers!? What we need, is maybe a charge move to try and bash through some men. Could be dependant on armor type, and would help greatly when stunlocked by weaker units. It could also work with the idea of a buddy system, The more people around you, the more succesful your bash can be (As less people holding you down)
