Bucholz Score - explanation and discussion

正在查看此主题的用户

Well, i paraphrased this in the wrong way, i agree with you that Buchholz becomes somewhat effective with a long period of time.
I don't think there will be more unequal matches with RR tbh

Don't think i'm analyzing too early "close" towards the end of the tournament (atleast for most teams). Buchholz is just not effective for 5 weeks so it can be replaced by another system

As Bucholz relies on points from previous weeks it doesn't really make any difference for weeks 1 and 2 but after that it does.
Bucholz is absolutely effective for 5 weeks, I am sure you can find analysis all over the internet that proves the concept, if you are interested.

From what you have written here it is not clear whether you realise that teams are sorted first on points, so teams that win the most matches will always be higher in the table. Bucholz only distinguishes between teams on the same points. So for teams who have won the same number of matches the Bucholz will be higher if a team has faced more difficult opponents.

Imagine if DoF had 6 points but had faced DM and RM and another team also had 6 points but that team had faced 2 teams of new players. Wouldn't you think your 6 points were harder earned? If the 2nd sorting was on round difference then in the case given that other team would be above DoF in the table as they would likely have a greater round difference against easier teams.

We decided to use the Buchholz system because it will give us the fairest match ups for the tourney.
Naturly a system like this needs some time to get running.

This was the reason given, why you introduced the score and based on that, i made my analysis with the following reasoning behind it

While the Buchholz Score was a new and innovative way with the attempt to balance the matches better than beforehand, after half of the tournament, here's my feedback to this system:

And the Buchholz Score clearly doesn't give you the fairest match ups. I'm glad that teams with the same ammount of points will be maybe sorted by skill but that doesn't help all the teams getting couple of matches 12:0ed or facing a similar result. For DoFriendship it happened twice in a row now

Well with RR you would have been 12:0ed too. And looking at how comparativly strong some teams in div C are you might have gotten more of these matches.

On paper Friendship's next opponent has the almost the same amounts of Round Won, Rounds Lost and Round difference. That's as fair as we can get.

Our system needed time to get running. But I still believe it works. The tournament is not over yet so give it more time.
We tried our best to make it a fun experience for everyone. Nobody ever said: " Haha let's put DOF in the worst matches possible that's going to be a great fun for everybody else"

Guess, i will do that.

Never hinted anything like that but of course, choosing yourself as an example tho gives you not the most objective argument, i'll learn from that one
