Bryntenwalda difficulty settings

What is the recommended Bryntenwalda difficulty settings?

Currently mine is... player/friends damage - normal, combat/campaign - average, combat speed - slower.

My army gets spanked by other lords unless I massivley out number then, bandits and such I can manage.

I noticed that when I installed Bryntenwalda originally the settings were set onto the easier options. Is this how its meant to be played? Have I unbalanced the game by increasing the settings? Or am I just being lame at this?

The overall difficulty of Brytenwalda is a little higher than native (as I think it should be),
so if native is giving you problems then turn down difficulty a bit.

That said, some things in Brytenwalda is made easier: spies to help you catch enemies, or easy quests to get money.
