Bringing Nditions back? - Poll

Without Willow's Royale mod it's not really Nditions.

Willow told me he wouldn't update the mod, didn't want to pass it on to anyone else and would be happy if someone would just sort out a duel server that he didn't have to be involved in. So I pestered AZAN until he made us a mod. We specifically decided not to include flying saucers and other assorted rubbish because of how much harder they made my job admining.

I think most of the nditions maps are still available and I could probably get permission to use them but I don't want to. I want all of the ludus maps to have areas suitable for the zones the mod supports (traditional medium-armor tunic duels, any armor infantry, cav+ranged, tournament arena) and most of the nditions maps wouldn't convert to this without a fair bit of work. That's why my map from nditions isn't on there, made for a different mod.

If you want more maps feel free to send me them. I made one to get it started and I've received one suitable one from Sphere since then... That's why we have two.

I can't even convince most AE players to play warband, I don't think I would have much luck convincing them to vote on a CoR Donut forum poll even if I cared enough to try.


I saw your complaints about your ping in the logs Donut. Not much I can do about your connection to Holland I'm afraid. The server's holding up lag wise for more people than nditions was in its last year of life, forgetting the nostalgia for a minute. I can at least attempt to fix problems if they're there instead of just raging in the head admin forum now

I think most of the nditions maps are still available and I could probably get permission to use them but I don't want to. There's no doubt you two put a lot of effort on it, it's simply, as Novac said, the maps being so dull, those classic good bots of Nditions being replaced by the typical silly AI, a different atmosphere altogether.
Urging players who complain about things to improve them themselves doesn't make that much sense, btw.

Em... kudos for the detective work, but there were no complaints about that in this thread, as that's probably only me and a few others who are on the edge of competitively-playable ping.
I'm not sure why Nditions owners refused to switch servers either, this is anyway a thread for the sake of info about public preference, as previously said.

If you want more make more. You can't complain about community atmosphere to people who invest a lot of time and money when you don't contribute anything.

I can't give nditions-style bots, Willow patched the warband server executable to get that behavior. Of all the improvements I want for the server, better bot AI is so far down the list lol.

Completely agreed.

You don't go duels because you want to play with flying saucers or explore map, right? In my opinion the server should provide big enough playerbase, few active admins and an easy access to weapon. Personally I don't need anything more.

Disagree. There should be a right to point out things which could be improven even if you completely ignored them; it goes for the server's sake in the end. The problem here is probably the lack of any competition, which kind of forces everyone to play in the same place, and when that happens there's usually some comformism.
A last note not to sound so antagonistic: your server is fine and better than nditions in its last days lag-wise, it's a good thing you promote the dueling scene and you certainly deserve the playerbase.

None of the head admins, myself included were active anymore and Willow decided not to update the mod anymore so it was shut down.

Sure, a lot of people enjoyed playing on Nditions because it was the better place to go if you wanted to duel but now you have Ludus which is pretty much the same - minus flying carpets, some maps and slightly worse bots.

There was some talk between myself and Ndition himself about a Bannerlord Nditions server but I'm not sure what's going on with that, completely depends on our interests when the game is actually released.

It's also funny to see people rejecting this idea are the people who were denied admin on the server, lol.

I had a lot of fun on Nditions over the years, with my 1000 hours on Warband most of it was spent there and I met loads of great people

The argument for my "no" is that I don't see the point in splitting the community, there was no need for Ludus when Nditions existed as there is no need for Nditions when Ludus exists. It's the same reason why there's no point having a battle server competing with IG_Battlegrounds. Simple reasoning for a logical answer, our community is small.

But yeah otherwise just the same , the Ludus was never intended to be Nditions, I made a lot of the changes to make duelling a smoother experience and to focus on that entirely and I think we've done a pretty good job with that.

Flying carpets were used pretty much exclusively to disrupt other players duels and to trigger teleports. Teleport objects like cushions lose their relevance once you don't get randomly respawned somewhere else and a lot of the maps that Nditions had were more adventure maps than anything else and had high numbers of props that caused fps loss on some peoples machines. So I don't really mind losing that stuff at all.

The bots are debatable but in the end I don't see them as anything more than tools to practice the basics as a beginner, if you want to have more challenge fight other players, bots will teach you little, even if you up their stats and reactions.
