"Bring me 9 [impossible-to-find-item]s"

I hate these quests, so much that I've been skipping them so I don't have to bother. I don't think I've ever completed one, and for me at least, it's because they always ask for a very specific item, often one you have almost no chance of ever gathering enough of to complete the quest.

So here's my suggestion. Instead of requiring something specific, just allow for any item that fits the requested slot. So for example just "horses" instead of "chargers". Obviously you should be rewarded better if you bring chargers back, but I'd actually finish the quest if I could just turn in the next batch of horses I can fill up my inventory with, or weapons, armours, etc. Even if not "weapons" being as specific as "swords" would be better than "bastard swords", as I can usually find swords, polearms, etc. but almost never a full inventory of one specific type.

On the bright side, when it says "Bring me 7 Sumpter Horses", the game doesn't care if you gather anything from Swaybacked to Spirited. Not sure about Lame, though. But hey, it's still pretty good that way.

Oh, and the same goes for, like, weapons and armor and whatnot. Quality levels just don't matter, which helps you out a bit.

Well if the Count wanted 7 horseys he would just buy them off the Merchant himself (as they usually have plenty of horses). Level caps for some items could be introduced though.

In theory he should pay you less than merchant prices so you actually have to go out and collect the items (or at least most of them) if you don't want to lose money on the deal. I figure there's no real reason a king would be asking me for a handful of trivial items anyway, it's just a random task to do so you have something to work on as you run around the game world. Horses aren't as bad as some of the weapons and armor they ask for though.

It does seem a little pointless, a king asking me for three lances. What use he has for them is beyond me. If they wanted to restock their armouries they would have multiply smithy and tanners, and horse breeders, and they wouldn't need to have you going round. And also, to restock an army, you prolly need some 600 lances, and armour to boot.
Oh well, pricing structure sucks too. Since when can you buy a horse for half what it costs for a pair of leather gloves. Yes yes, I'v heard it all before, balancing the game...

I just think these types of quests should be replaced all together. They are tedious and unenjoyable, but I would do them if the money was worth it... but as it stands, I am better off just winning some tournaments.

I prefer the quests like, "Any enemy Swadian army near Rivecheg has recently defeated one of our armies. Hunt them down and destroy them!"

They seem to make more sense, and be more fun.

I just got a capture 5 swadian knights quest when my troops were half peasents and the rest follower women... What the heck?
