Bretwalda - Divided Kingdoms

This mod is set in the 7th century England, although the name might be very similar to the famous Brytenwalda, Bretwalda is simply another word with the same meaning found in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicles where King Alfred from Wessex mentioned it. The main focus of this mod will be the four-main kingdoms of England in that period; Kingdom of Wessex, Kingdom of East Anglia, Kingdom of Mercia & Kingdom of Northumbria, with the addition of the Picts in the North, Gaels in the East, Bretons in the Southwest of Britain and the Norsemen.

This mod is simply a conversion of the vanilla game by editing basically everything through the .xml files, since I don't have the abilities to go wild with it, I do what I can. The map itself, was posted by another fellow on the nexus forums by the name of FRagnarson, simply giving out the credits completed to him for posting the amazing (yet unfinished) map of Britain. As of right now, we are currently six people working on this mod together, since the last time I posted this thread in here, we're growing fast and we're making some good progress with the mod, all I have to do is simply thank everyone that joined up and is willing to go through this experience with me. The map made by FRagnarson was only made on the version 1.5.4 of the game, currently we're trying to bring it onto 1.5.7 but with the current version of the Modding Tools, I've failed more than I can count, trying to do this by myself, we'll definitely need to work on that part of the mod but right now, our focus really is simply convert everything to fit the setting and leave it as polished and balanced as possible for ourselves and other players that wants to play this mod. Everything I'm posting in this thread, will and asks to be taken as still in a Work In Progress , so take the campaign map as a simple idea right now and enjoy the new screenshots, like I said, currently making some good progress.

So let's go to the important part of this thread; What has been done?

As of right now, the cultures, settlements, kingdoms and troops has been completely edited and overhauled to fit the setting of the mod. Although it seems like a lot, I've only done a part of it, so there's still a few minor things to edit and test.

And this is an overview of the entire map (not including the far northern towns of Scotland (cause I can't take screenshots that far, but I'll figure something out.)

I'll try to post on this thread with updates and soon enough I'll be posting a few screenshots of all the troop trees and everything; feel free to get in contact with me via PM.

jesusinbox (mainly for the Banners that I've used by him)

Mystermask625 (mainly for the Shields that I've used by him)

Though, both won't be in the final mod, if I'm being honest, I'm only giving them two credits because it helped me a lot by teaching me the method of editing a lof of those things, specially when it comes to POC-CRM.

looks good, though if your trying to go for correct placement of nottingham and leicester then they are actually too far north. where it is currently placed is shefield, it needs moving south east of where leicester is currently placed and leicester needs moving south of where nottingham should be.

tbh, i get why you did it as that area of the map out be quite busy, however you could consider adding in shefield in its correct place as it was a roman town.

Oh, thank you! I'll fix that soon enough.

Messing with the Scene Editor for a bit, came up with some ideas-- Here's a small W.I.P of some of the custom maps we'll be using.

Looks good! Good luck with the project guys.
Sigh of relief. We are all waiting for mods to come to the rescue.
I believe that with such a high profile milieu you will be able to recruit a bunch of interested experts to create a deep game.
Obviously the " high medieval " heraldry on your map above will not make it to the actual " Bretwalda "...........
You might want to correct to " Gaels in the West " in your intro.
And a bit early for " Norsemen " ?

There was a few changes made by the team, I still need to update the main thread with the new changes, so no, not too early for them.

Also, a lot of the things that I've posted here was mainly focused on showcasing or giving a simple idea of what the mod is going to be about, not really solid info, because we'll keep changing on the fly as we continue working on the mod, so a lot of things were just more of a showcase of my ideas for it.

Thank you! We are still working very hard on it, right now we're taking it a bit slower than we first started because of the Modding Tools bugs and whatnot, but we're definitely on the right track.

I appreciate you guys posting on the thread, and hopefully soon enough we'll have a more equipped and experienced team put-together, right now we're 7 members in, including FRagnarson, the producer of the original map of England, he also joined our discord and we've been talking about how we can bring the map to the newest versions of the game, but then again, Modding Tools being buggy and we can't really do anything about it until TaleWorlds fixes them.
