I couldn't find a thread on this for necro-ing, even though I thought there would be something of the sort.
Anyways, share yer stories of house break-ins and robberies, possibly even murders, in your house or in your neighborhood.
Here's mine:
As my father was driving me back from a friend's birthday party, we saw a bunch of cop cars around the Mac's, which is the confectionary/gas station that is basically the only reason for crime in my neighborhood for quite a ways. Every month or so there will be some minor robbery/vandalisation, and occasionally there will be a major robbery, usually when the Exhibition (closest we get to a proper carnival) is set up. (It gets set up across the street.)
A few years ago, an employee (17 year old girl, IIRC) had her face bashed against the cement sidewalk outside. She survived, but not by too much, and she had to get quite a bit of reconstructive surgery.
And sometimes, it actually affects me. Like tonight, when me and my dad went to investigate what happened (was somebody injured or killed? possibly) we got halfway there before being lightly questioned (almost 60 year old man and a 14 year old boy hardly fit the description of the suspects) and sent back. I'd say around 7-9 cars were about, as well as three or four two-man patrols with one dog, going up and down the streets and alleyways.
A bit later, at my house kicking back and some guy comes to our house and asks for a ride. My mum tells him about a bus station near the Mac's (see what the idea of returning to the crime scene does) to which he says "Okay, I'll go get my bike." Hmm. So he goes and pulls a small BMX bike from the bushes in front of our house and goes off toward the freeway.
Not the most interesting story, but it's what's on my mind right now, and I'd like to hear your experiences with the sort.
There was also the time that the SWAT team formed up outside our house to go raid the house of one of our neighbor's, who was an accountant and a meth addict who was running a brothel from his house. He was, actually, the accountant of some family friends, who are also respected local artists.
Anyways, your stories?
