Ive searched for this a lot , and didn't find a shi*. I wanted to ask , if bow profiency not only increase damage and attack speed , but also the speed of arrows ?

I'm not sure if it changes attack range too but if it does, it should.

(In my world of logic)

To my belive it depends on your power draw and your bow for range as well as the angle of your shot. You also have to think about how much of a angle is going to do what. For example the wind could take it and you could miss by a long shot.

I'm pretty sure that it doesn't affect the arrow velocity. Mainly just affects how fast you can draw the bowstring.

I believe arrow velocity is determined by the bow, and not affected by your proficiency.

Just stick to the basics of battle.  As a marksman you want, if not always, to be on higher ground so you may shoot downwards and not up.  if you're men become scuffled, take that opportunity to fall back as far as 40 paces until your men are somewhat out of the fray, get your arrow men to follow you then find some high ground.  then start firing your arrows.

Because , uh , your draw becomes more powerful ? Well , maybe it should increase with strength...

This isn't part of your question, but one thing I think I noticed is that my guy can actually hold a drawn arrow longer without the reticule expanding on him, it will eventually, but it seems to take longer.  Haven't done any "hard" research on this, just something I've noticed.  His current skill is 200+ in archery...  I can draw down on a crossbowmen during a siege, he ducks down to reload his crossbow and rather than picking a different target I can hold my shot until he pokes his melon back up over the wall.

From what I've experienced during the various versions of M&B, bow proficiency does increase arrow velocity. And arrow damage. And the length of time you can aim for without losing accuracy. And how quickly you can draw an arrow.

In the early versions where the edges of the map were like a bowl and dark knights wrought havoc across the land, with a very high proficiency the arrows would start homing in on the enemies' heads if you shot them from far away without zooming, it was splendid.

My bow profiency is like 300 or 290 but I can only hold the reticule for about 8 secs , and sometimes it's not enough for some of the swadian and rhodok crossbowmen (lucky basstards  ). By the way , sometimes , when I start new game and make another marksmen , I think he shoots not as far as the old one did...

The reticule size becomes larger (and aim worse) depending on the power draw requirement of the bow. Higher requirements decrease your accuracy. A general rule is that if you have 3 more in power draw than the requirement, you should have decent accuracy.

Were you using the same bow?

Ugh, everyone gets this wrong!

Reticule size is NOT affected by power draw requirements!

It is affected by the damage of the bow.

A bow that does 100 damage with no PD requirement will be much less accurate than a bow with a PD requirement of 10 that does 1 damage.

In fact, the bow that does 1 damage will be near pin-point accurate while the 100 damage bow will be impossible to aim with.

how do you zoom?

Ah... so that's why the Strong Bow is so hard to use even though it only requires PD 3.  Maybe I'll hold off on getting that war bow, then...

How does the accuracy rating on the bow factor into this?
