Yep. Food and water will still be a noticeable factor, just playing a much more minor role.
Now get me your name and bio, fgt

Also, Welcome gaham in the Kalonda system!

For balance's sake, I must ask the remaining 2 colony slots to be in the star system Iota Zulu and Meio.

This will leave Nueluzon, Viga Mizar, and Catana Cor to the three NPC organizations.

Need 3 more colony players. Warlords can wait somewhat longer as they are not as critical to the game - I need 10 colonies for balance reasons.

Please enjoy the first draft of my new novel: "Shatari really needs to stop writing multi-thousand word essays instead of character descriptions". I should have the finalized copy available to Serva gamehosts everywhere within the near future.

Stuff from the Skype chat, just putting it here for those who don't/can't/won't use Skype.

How will you do combat pix?
It'll basically be like Aust's game, with turn-based "interturn" space combat. Ground combat will be like any other bop.
So are there ship parts that we warlords can't get at the beginning?
Antimatter missiles.
Nanoforge.
Observatory upgrades.
Dozens of other things.
Do drone catapults use turret slots?
A coil-catapult does not count as a turret.
Do you have a complete list of equipment in the game?
That would be mind-****ingly long, unfortunately. I'm taking a "need-to-know" approach. If you think your ship could use a cool part or something, ask if it exists and I'll tell you.
If you upgrade the ship, doesn't the player with the shipyard learn every detail about your ship?
More or less.
Can I give my crewmembers cutlasses?
All boarding combat takes place in, for lack of a better term, "underwater." Polearms are thus the preferred melee weapon since they give leverage and can thrust through the fluid easily. Coil-Carbines with bayonets would also perform well.
Though I'm not sure how infantry body armor and whatnot is in this universe
There are two types: Hard and Soft. Soft is infinitely harder to produce but far more effective. Hard is heavier but satisfactory. In boarding situations, hard is too heavy to wear, and soft is very rare that you're unlikely to see it anyway. Body armour should rarely be a concern in boarding.
Is base energy production before or after routine upkeep of the ship?
After. It can be used to power whatever.
Do weapons consume energy constantly or only when being used?
If they are fired, they consume ammo/energy/both.
If you have double the spare energy needed, could you fire twice in the same 'tick'?
Yes. But keep in mind: lasers can overheat, and guns can exhaust ammo. Doing it too many times in rapid succession could cost you a turret or a fat chunk of your hull, or several hundred tonnes of ammunition.
There's going to be some kind of currency, right?
Yes. For simplicity's sake, they're called 'Funds'.
Are there escape pods?
No.
Are there EMP weapons?
In ground combat, yes. In space, minimal appearance.

Okay, Skype chat exploded with questions again. I'll put them all here. All of which is still mostly Warlord-related stuff.

What is the use of the Warp Rings +5 that lets you project bubbles over other ships? Is it only 1 ship or any number of ships so long as they are half your size?
There are numerous applications: maybe your ally needs a tow, a non-warp-capable ship needs to get somewhere, or perhaps you want to trap your enemy in warp with you so you can take the fight to them at your home base. You can only project the bubble over one ship, and you must pay for their dark matter cost.
Can you carry fuel in the normal cargo storage?
Yes, but it must be moved to the fuel tanks to actually be used. Same with warp fuel.
Can I have my ship warpdrive into an enemy ship so that it becomes a super-fast missile?
I mean, you could, but you wouldn't be able to play anymore, and there are equally effective alternatives.
Tachyon Bolts. How do they work
They phase through warp bubbles. They can engage any target that's in the warp, including enemy ships, though that's really impractical. Their primary purpose is to counter antimatter missiles.
The Light Drone's Dual Rapid Fire 20mm coilguns are smaller than the coilguns that are on the ship right? and if so, does that make them more capable at point-defense?
Yes.
is it easier to add turrets to a ship than upgrade internal devices like the storage space, once the game is under way? and adding more turrets would not reveal a lot of info about your ship, would it?
Yes and yes, though if they deliberately probe, they may discover some things, since turrets are integrated with other systems.
I really want the ships to go insane this game :c
Bahaha can that actually happen?
Yes, it can.
So are convoy ships usually magnetizable?
Yes. It's cheaper to build them that way, and merchants like their good profit margins.
Is it possible for a ship with really ****ty Observatories to not be able to detect who's shooting at them even after several combat turns?
Possible but unlikely.

All colony slots filled.
Remaining colony bios and flagships should come in at a reasonable pace now, I hope.
Warlords have submitted ships far faster than I thought.

Since all colonies are here, I will now share what Mega-Conglomerate got each HQ. This will allow some pre-game diplomacy to take place, if desired. Perhaps a bit of pre-game diplo will spur the submitting of bios and **** a bit faster

Dodes - Tritach Mega-Conglomerate - Euerythro System - Blue Quadrant
Sushiman - Lukkastor Mega-Conglomerate - Telotele System - Yellow Quadrant
Hulksmash - Ronstal Mega-Conglomerate - Neurhone System - Red Quadrant
Eternal - Innovaganix Mega-Conglomerate - Spiremos System - Green Quadrant

EDIT: Map again for reference:

Forgot something important!
Each megacorp belongs to a trade guild. This has some effects.
NPC merchants of another guild will be less likely to trade with you, and stuff.

Dodes and Eternal of Tritach and Innovaganix will belong to the MARKET COALITION trade guild.
Hulksmash and Sushiman of Ronstal and Lukkastor will belong to the PROFIT COMMUNION trade guild.

This essentially means that the other trade guild is natural enemies, and others in the same guild natural allies. This is not set in stone though, just like in a normal bop where historical allies and enemies can do whatever, but it might be more difficult.

Remember: Discrete employment of trustworthy third parties is a great way to avoid angering your peers! :shifty:
