Body stacker, terrain height and squad command.

 1. Bodies should be able to stack on each other. If some character dies over the corpse of another, his body should fall on top of that corpse. This way bodies would stack to make mountains of corpses, resulting in an impressive, somewhat Conan-esque, sight.

My brother came up with that idea. Here's some of my own.

 2. The minimap in the command menu (shift key) should show terrain height. This way it would be easier and more practical to maneuver archers onto hills and such, rather than riding ahead onto them and commanding "Archer, hold this position".

 3. There should be a way to set selected troops into squads, which could be commanded with their own hotkeys. You see, it's very annoying to put all your archers on to that other tower on the side of the castle, when only some of them will be able to shoot. The rest cannot shoot from behind their comrades! With this squad command -function, you could divide your archers into two (or more) squads that could effectively shoot the invading enemy from both sides.

One more thing.
 4. The garrison screen needs to show the number of troops in the garrison. It is very frustrating to exit the keep just to see how many troops you have in garrison.

Please do leave a comment, people.

Especially nice if people are falling off of walls. I've had multiple occassions where I should've been hurt by falling corpses.

I'll elaborate more on 2 and 3.

 2.The terrain heights could be displayed with colours, with for example dark red being very high and dark blue being very low.

 3. If you've ever played Age of Mythology, then you will know the troop banner feature. You select the troops you want to command as a single whole. Now this banner might anything from 30 infantry to 1 archer, 5 infantry, 16 cavalry and 1 flying purple hippo.

In Mount & Blade, you would select the troops on the world map, outside combat. For example:
I select ten Nord Huscarls to command them separately. Now, in combat, applying 2. Terrain Height, I position these Huscarls to more tactical position, on a hill or amid a handful of trees.

And a new feature.

 5. Determine Route. When you have the minimap on you should be able to set your troops to move from point A to point B to point C and etc. This way, you could maneuver your cavalry to flank your enemy. The various points you set them to move would be displayed as flags that are connected with lines. The flags themselves would have numbers or letters (A,B,C...) to designate their order.

What do you think of these features I designed, people?

Love the body-stacking idea of course. I guess this has been considered by the developers.

As for the orders, I prefer them to stay simplistic. I'd rather the tactical overlay didn't exist at all for example.

I would have to agree with Papa Lazarou here..

The "Backspace" menu (whats it called, Command Interface or something?) is rather unrealistic as it is..

But again, this is a game, so I guess an improved Command Interface could be good.. I don't use the CI much because I think its a bit like cheating...

Really? I figured the command system was too primitive.

Don't you feel bad at all that the only existing tactic in this game is "lol CHAREG!!!!111"?

The backspace tactics screen, as of now, is very inefficient. When defending in a siege, if you accidentally command the archers in any way, the give up their tactical positions at the two sides of the ladder/tower bridge, and it is irreversible.
Or, if you have an infantry army on the steppes/plains fighting against cavalry, there's no way to tell your men to huddle up and assume a formation, which would be the only sensible tactic in the situation.

Me, I'm in favor of adding tactical elements (read depth) to the game.

there's a lot more tactic then charge, actually.
archers on the top of the hill, infantry more to the front, so that the archers can shoot over them, cavalry a bit to the side, when the enemy closes in charge with the cavalry, and when they've past the infantry, let the infantry charge, works pretty well...

But i agree with everything else!

1) Go for it.

2) I'd much prefer a topographic type map; Much more easy to read. Your suggestion would just create a color f***fest. If you're already suggesting shift backspace to toggle it as your wording isn't precise, then this idea is golden.

3) That idea would work. As long as the interface its implemented into during combat isn't intrusive in your HUD, and as long as it's easy to quickly switch between groups and direct orders, I'm all for it.

4) Absolutely no reason why this shouldn't be in.

5) As long as it's just a route, and not a direct command to move to each area like an RTS, then this would be excellent.

As for the orders, I prefer them to stay simplistic. I'd rather the tactical overlay didn't exist at all for example.

I'd prefer it existed, for example. I'd rather my soldiers being intelligent rather than mindless corpses just running into the other to see who has the most troops who are of higher tiers.

Aren't you getting a bit gory there?

Get back to your vicious vikings!
Gory?  :???: Also, I'm on to zombies now.

Disembowelment would be nice too. (Sorry to derail the thread...)

But yeah, I like all your ideas, though a few things I would tweak, it's all very nice but not entirely necessary.
