Blood modifier capped?

I searched for "blood_modifier" and "blood modifier" without finding what I was searching for. I was trying to produce mushroom clouds of blood by setting the the "blood_modifier" to 8000000.0 in module.ini, but all I get is small puffy bits. This leads me to believe that it is somehow capped, and if so what is the highest setting for it?
 
I think the blood modifier in module.ini only affects blood stains on weapons and wounded troops. To increase blood released particles you have to modify particles txt file (easiest through the module system)

You could modify Version 0.903, but the new version will have to wait until the source files are released, sadly.

 
I guess the particle code is the same in 0.955 as in 0.903, so just copying the blood entry from 0.903 particles.txt to 0.955 particles.txt could work.
